This is a fantastic cover design, and it does my heart good to see fan art of Howl's Moving Castle that for once isn't fan art of the movie. Not that the movie is bad. Far from it! I just don't think the original source material gets the credit and recognition it deserves.

Thank you! I see the film and the novel as two completely different entities, and I like them both. As a bookworm creating a book cover, though, I of course preferred the literary version.

Yeah, I prefer the book too. It just seemed more thought-out to me. Jones threw a ton of sub-plots and side characters at us, but at least she took the time to explain everything in due time and tie up all the loose ends. With the movie, I felt like there was too much that wasn't explained enough.
Oh well. It's still a good movie.

I love this, it is better than any version of the cover that is out there (especially the original, eww is that one bad). Love how the title is smooshed under the castle into the hill. Ever thought of sending this to the publisher? It really is fabulous- I'd buy a hard cover with this design.

I just saw this movie last night, and I CANT WAIT TO READ TO THE BOOK!!! This is absolutely fabulous, the colors are amazing, I love every bit of it. Howl is great too (thanks for making him more manly, just a bit too girly in the film for my taste
Was this originally a sort of steam-punk book? Sort of seemed that way in the movie, and there is a definite a steam-punk feel to this. Wonderful!!

This is actually somewhat older now, but I still like it too. The book does have a slight steampunk feel to it it, but its got a much more fairy tale quality to it than the movie. Definitely read the book, it's wonderful!

Awesome! I have never read this book, but this cover really makes me want to, which means you have really succeeded with this assignment. You imply such huge amounts of pure grand bedtime story magic.
Also, wow, you have managed to make it look late evening/twilight without no reddish colours in the sky.

I really like the blue tones of the piece - and I really love your take on the characters!
Also the eye-catching details on Howl and Sophies' clothing! And the clouds and castle in the background - it all really adds to the atmosphere of the story!
