Description
< FIRST - PREVIOUS - NEXT >A ten page comic that I did for Free Comic Book day.
This is mostly to test the style that I want to use for the comic and it is a prelude to my upcomic webcomic. It takes place 6 years before the main story of the webcomic and is not necessary to read in order to understand it.

The Intrepid Series contains themes of war, violence, gang activity, death, PG-13 rated nudity/sex, adult language, and moderate amounts of gore (Gore NOT Vore… there‘s a difference. Rest assured that this comic does not contain Vore!). If you still have issues with any of these themes, then this is not the comic series for you.

So - you stated, that the Ancients (namely us, humans, homo sapiens) were completely extinct long time ago. However, the Ultimarians looks much like humans. Actually, they ARE humans. Are they what's left of the Ancients, or merely a new human species that evolved later?

Ultimarians are pretty much humans 2.0.
They evolved from humans, but their bodies are built to be much more efficient then our own.
I wrote a brief article a while back about HOW their bodies are different then the bodies of humans - [link]
I have a good deal more information about them coming when I officially unveil my secret side project.

I've read this article, and... well, considering the harsh conditions that occured during the exctinction of the Ancients, I wouldn't expect humans 2.0 to require more food than their predecessors - rather the opposite.
Not to mention - such fast heart rate and metabolism would involve much shorter lifespan than ours.

Long story short, you're reading MUCH more into the scientific aspect of it then it's meant to be.
It's a Space Opera, and space operas aren't always meant to be 100% scientifically accurate. If I wanted to be completely accurate, I would have went for a hard sci-fi Story.
Just enjoy the story for what it is.

Huh, long time has passed since I've last spoke.
Another problem with Ultimarians is that they consume more food than we do (due to their fast metabolism) - which is very bad when we have such conditions as appeared while Ancients' disappearance (not much food to spare).
I know it's space opera, but nevertheless, I find it quite fun to build Sci-verse, that is explainable and could actually exist. That's why I'm trying to maintain reasonable level of realism by creating my own universe.

Then you create your universe the way that you'd like and allow me to do the same.

But you're forgetting that Ultimarians are also spiritual beings who walk the thin line between the two halves that make the universe whole (Science and Spirituality) because of which, they aren't fully bound by the laws of science. This explains their longer lifespan then most of the other races.
