Character sheet for my 'teryx character, Morena. Funny that I'm finishing this one now since I'm also working on a character sheet for ~ArchTeryx 's Archaeopteryx character as wall.
Edit: Wow. I wasn't expecting a DD for this... since it's just a character sheet and I feel like I have a lot of better things in my MAIN gallery... but the powers that be seem to think otherwise. While I REALLY appreciate my first DD, I wish it would have been for something else.
And... since some people seem to be being VERY rude about this, comments are now disabled. Trolls belong under bridges... not on my dA page.
Seriously, people. Where did you learn your manners? I mean really... being an unholy asshole over a tiny image at the bottom of a webpage that will go away in 24 hours. Sure says a lot about you guys.

Your comment seems to carry an unnecessary amount of sarcasm.
My understanding of a DD is that it is a way to showcase truly excellent art. Work that is impressive, eye-catching and has great attention to detail.
It is also a way to show new artists that have done something new and impressive or different or just caught the moderator's eye.
I suggested this as a DD because I though it was a very well done character reference sheet. It has a lot of work in it from a design standpoint, it is visually appealing and I thought the art was good. Also (and this is the major reason I suggested it) it features a unique subject for the anthro gallery that being a archeoptryx which is challenging to pull off well. The artist has never received a DD so I suggested it and I was very glad for her when I saw she had gotten one.
There are some things I don't understand about the usual choices for DD's. They seem to have all done by the same three or four people in a lot of categories. Excellent art but nothing new or interesting. In fact, many people have as many as five DD's in their galleries which seems a little lop-sided to me.
I also don't understand the point of commenting on someone's art that you don't think they deserve a DD and you disagree with the decision of the moderator to make it one. What is the point except to make the artist feel bad? If I commented every time I saw a DD I didn't agree with, I'd need to quit my job for the amount of time it would take. Opinions vary, one of the neat things about art.
Also, I don't know the moderator past their name. That is an unfair assumption. I can understand your feelings about many DD choices. I have them all the time but I don't comment on the artist's pages that they don't deserve it and they got it through favoritism because that's just mean and pointless.
I'm done. I was happy for this artist but now I feel really sorry for her that in an attempt to get more people to see her art. I attracted such negative attention from a very opinionated few.

1) This is SCRAP. It's a scrap for a reason!
2) It's anthro art. Fact that dA is crowded with furries don't mean rest of users droll about such thing.
3) Why naming crap a crap is pointless or rude? It's the same oppinion as saying that it's masterpiece and should get DD. The only problem here is your attitude that someone is scolding what you consider as huge art achievement.

Art. Get it? This is art. Because it's something REALLY original. It must took ages to did this and to have many skills. This masterpiece get DD in the same day as this crap under which we are talking. I would feel offended when I was in place of if my work was praised the same as this (s)crap.
And if you are gonna say something about that piece - read author's comment first.

I'm one to recognize art in any shape or form, from a dot on a piece of paper to this piece that you so unfairly criticize to that picture you linked. I see them all as different forms of art, and can appreciate them for what the artist has done to the extent of their skills and views.

It's obviously not bullshit, seeing as how they are recognized as such. Just because it isn't beautifully detailed, done through lots of blood and sweat doesn't mean jack. Art is whatever you make it. Sure, there are many levels of art, lots of which I'm quite sure you would disagree with, however, what makes it crap? So they don't have the skills of other 'true artists' (note the quotes). That doesn't mean that it still isn't art. Sure, great art is recognized as great art, but that doesn't mean that the guy standing next to him, with his best drawn stick man and semi-detailed scene can't be art. People shouldn't be judged on their skill and abilities. That link you linked me to did nothing for me. I liked how he did it, and what kind of skills he used to get there, however, it did nothing to WOW me. To me, it was just a picture of Napoleon on a horse. I appreciate the time and effort it took to make that, but, again, it did nothing for me. However, knowing that, I didn't go onto his page and tell him that, did I? No, because I have a certain level of respect for humans and what they call art. If that guy with his best stick drawing, telling me it is his best work yet, I'll give him a big, fat thumbs up.
Why? Because I am not an ignorant prick like some people. I don't go around trolling human's pages because their art doesn't appeal to me. I don't sit there and continuously tell human's that their art isn't art. I move on to the next piece that appeals to me, and BOOM, there you go. Problem over.

I can count too
1. You can put anything in the scrap category. That does not imply it is bad, just that it is not a part of her main gallery. She could have moved it there recently too.
2. If you don't care for it, why comment? I don't care for the horror or nude photo category so I don't comment there everytime I see the same old thing there.
3. Opinion. I think it is good art, you think it isn't. Who are you to say, who am I? The moderator thought it was good enough. Again, I see lots of DD's I don't agree with but I don't comment on them to tell them that.
4. Of course it is art but so? It's all art. Y'know, I don't really care for it. Nothing against the artist but it just doesn't do much for me. I can appreciate the work that went into it and I recognize the effort but it nothing about the other pieces being chosen lessens it in any way because the DD selection process is still ultimately one person's OPINION. I really don't care about that artist's comment. I'm not interested in that pic. If you are, fantastic.
5. I'm only sorry that the artist attracted negative attention from the likes of you. For God's sake, it is a community art site. If you see something you don't like, move on. Go to that DD you really like and talk to that guy.

Like I said, you're categorizing all furries in the "sick" sect. That's like doing the same with people who love zombies. Just because they draw zombies doesn't mean they want to fuck them or become one.
There are some people who just connect with a specific animal and like to draw themselves as such. Now when they believe that they ARE one or when they physically love their pet sexually is when you have problems.
Now I'll use the Indians and Celts and various other races as an examples. They had a spiritual animal that, they thought was either a literal or metaphorical representation of some aspect of themselves. Forgetting the ones that thought they were literally a wolf... Is there anything wrong with believing you've "got" the cleverness or sociability of a wolf? It's kind of like the modern day sayings of "as strong as an ox."
And what's wrong with having a fursona? Many animal designs are based off their actor's counterparts in movies. And some actors agree that they relate with that animal or could see themselves as that animal. And in some cases, might draw it for fun. But they don't believe they're that animal or should engage in improper activities with that animal. This is why I think there are sane and insane furres.

It's very, very simple. Person, who need support of his or her imaginary personification, avatar or no-matter-how-you-name it is mentally unstable. No matter that it's human being, animal, anthro or I don't know, maybe even some inanimated object. This makes him/her mental person. Or maybe it's just my poor vocabulary and there is in English other word to describe "soft" mental sickness like low self-assure or depression, separating them from illness like paranoid schizophrenia or things like that.

I can understand where you're coming from.
However, I wouldn't call it a form of being emotionally uncertain or unstable. Maybe relating yourself to a plant or a piece of furniture, but - an animal is a living being, and I can see how there's more of an emotional connection there since those beings themselves, have inherent emotions.

I know plenty about art.
I also know manners and I must only assume you have none by the way you have commented on this. So what if you don't agree? There's lots of DD's I don't agree with. I don't go and tell the artists that. It's not there fault.
I suggested this because I thought it was good art and did have a lot of effort put into it and it was different from the usual choices made for DD which, while representative of technique, are often almost identical in so many ways to every DD of that category before them. So I suggested it. What is the harm in that? Opinions vary on art greatly as far as what we like.
Your comments are hurtful and anything but helpful or encouraging to the artist so I can only assume you are here to share your extreme opinion regardless of how it might make people feel or to cause trouble. I apologized to the artist that I had nominated this. i think that putting just a link of your favorite artist (one of mine now,thanks for showin me!) is not enough to say that you understand something in art.
