Description About as close as the White Iridaceae get to a leader similar to numerous other races, Amaryssa has been the aide to leaders throughout the years. It wasn’t until recently, with the death of the last leader of the Iridaceae of Him-Taurë, that Amaryssa herself stepped forward to take the place of both the representative of her people at the World Council in Feren, as well as their spiritual leader. Her longevity is a mystery, seeing as how she was not among the original of the White Iridaceae, though some speculate that it may very well simply be her will to live that keeps her vibrant, and ultimately, alive.

Having missed the days of the original split of the Iridaceaen tribes, but living well through the aftermath, she is learned in the tales of both the Black Iridaceae as well as the Hellebore, and seems to sit on the fence about the issue. Being that she resides solely in Bein-Ost’s capitol of Him-Taurë to take care of her people’s affairs and only ventures out in order to meet at the World Council in Feren when it is held, she has little to do with the dealings of her people’s allies beyond brief and ultimately unfriendly communication with her younger, estranged brother, Junos. There is undeniable tension between Amaryssa and her brother in regards to their people’s enemies — while Junos is pushing the Iridaceae’s age-old allies, La Vatign, to strike at both the Kingdom of Veltres and the Hellebore nation while they are having issues to the south with other matters, Amaryssa sees no point in provoking a return attack, and thus does not support his proposition, and refuses to send extra aid to La Vatign for that purpose.

While genuinely kind and thoughtful, Amaryssa is exceptionally hard-headed and views her people as ultimately superior. Once set in her ways, it is very difficult to change her mind, though not impossible. She attempts to be fair, but her innate racism is evident, to the point where she cares little for the existence of the other races unless they recognize her people’s superiority in their lifestyle and piety toward their patron Creator, as well as accepting the Iridaceae’s ‘help’ since they are so obviously inferior and are in need of the Iridaceae’s good will. Her intentions for her people are always noble, but with evidence she finds convincing, she is easily blinded to more important matters by pride.”

ittle different from the previous references, this is Amaryssa’s Iridaceae form which is the one she is most often seen in (Iridaceae form has changed a fair amount from the initial incarnation about a year or more ago… they aren’t birds, so the feathered wings didn’t sit well with me — the new ones are more like “wing-like appendages”, as they don’t flap or any such nonsense and the Iridaceae are capable of low-key hovering above the ground in this form. They cannot “fly”, and the crystals tie them better into their surroundings in Bein-Ost that are snowy and crystalline. They also are supposed to invoke the idea of prisms which catch and reflect light — the Iridaceae’s life-element – and will help further the Iridaceaen Curse on the Hellebore, which was in part meant to make the Hellebore feel less “divine” than their Iridaceaen cousins, with appendages that were grounded in visceral flesh and wrenched upside down.

I didn’t find it particularly imperative that I have a back shot as well as a face shot because A) this was annoying enough as it is, and B) her model will serve as that reference, itself. Her ginormous eyes are out of character for me, but the Iridaceae are supposed to have massive “dewy, soulful eyes”. XD;

I actually have a lot of these and in higher quality at my blog, but I figured I'd let these trickle in here very slowly.

she is very beautiful, and your back story for her is well thought out.

I love the combination of colors, and I imagine the almost iridescent look must've been a pain to color.

Reminds you of something eh? Of what? XD Was inspired by something that doesn't look much of anything like this at all, but I'm curious

Thanks though!

Ohhh, hahah! It's funny, because her sword's attack is inspired by Kayle

Iridaceae are inspired by unicorns though

This is awesome! I love the elaborate concept, and the colors!

BTW, I know you're uber busy (and so am I!), but if you ever want to revisit that art trade idea we were going to do, let me know!

Thank you!

Ahh, I would love doing an art trade, but I have absolutely no idea what, nor appropriate reference for anything of mine to do. Aaaah! Additionally, I think I wanna get all these things I owe people out of the way before I'm taking months and months to get around to doing my half, because it makes me sad to make people wait when it isn't something directly out of my control

Soon, though, soon!! ... If you're still up for it by then! X)

I really like how you did the creative character design of Amaryssa. The style of her wings as well as the glowy effects of the sword that she's holding came out pretty good. You coloured her pretty well!
