This art piece probably has had the most time spent on doing. In fact, it's been in my queue for a few months already. But now that school is finally over for me, summertime should provide a good chunk of free time for me to do art more often (aside from working)
. I've spent the last 3 nights initiating the final edits to this pic, so I'm very happy with how this came out. probably one of my best works yet.
I felt that adding the stars would bring a nice touch, since it uses up that small area of blank space. Plus, it adds some emphasis to the image as well. No one likes wasting space, right? 
There are quite a few reasons why I made this pic too.
1. I wanted to get used to drawing the official cast more. I think I'm getting better as I go
2. I've never actually drawn Silver before, so this gives me an excuse to draw him. I think he came out all right here.
3. I've never put 5 people in an image before, so this pic needed some planning to carry out. Thankfully everything worked out.
4. I wanted to swap out this image from the featured deviation section on my page. it's getting a little old now :/

Overall, this piece is clean and very well executed! The only suggestions I would give, (you can also apply these to past works of art), is maybe more shading and lighting on each character. I see that Silver is one example of a well shaded character in this portrait. Lastly is putting a subtle yet colorful background that fits the art. I also love how you did a kind of improvisation by putting stars in the empty space. But even if though these aspects were missing, I found this piece very enjoyable and rather humorous. I could definitely see you drawing and selling your art as posters in the future! If you apply these techniques to future drawings with your already incredible art style, you art will be even more fantastic! I hope you found this helpful!

Tbh I'm not too sure XD I knew that Silver would look kinda bland if I didn't shade him, so I just did it with him. Probably becaus since he is pure white, I just used pencil to shade him. For the others, I'd likely need a darker color of their types, of which I don't have at the moment.

Here from and it's neat to see another Sonic fan-artist submitting! Screw anyone who says none of us care about improving our work.
Alright, here's what I think is way-past-cool about this:
- You differentiate their faces pretty well, allowing their expressions to tell a bit about their personalities. Sonic characters aren't usually known for their facial diversity so this is nice to see. (Why the smug grin on Tails, though?)
- Their bodies are generally proportioned pretty well, in that no major parts are way too big or small.
- I see a little bit of shading on Silver, which it's good you're trying to improve your craft with.
And here's what's no use (so far, at least):
- I'm not sure if you're trying to build a scene here, but with only a few stars in the background, I think this would honestly look better with just a flat, single-color background, possibly a pastel of some sort. (Not that backgrounds aren't immensely useful - they are! But they require thinking about where the characters are and what that entails.)
- Likewise, I can't help but feel the shading on Silver is a bit wasted since the other characters don't have it. Also, if you're going to shade, though, pick a direction to have the light source be coming from, and shade everything that's the farthest away from that. With Silver, the shadows are all on different angles so I can't really tell where the light is.
- Although the faces look pretty good, some aspects of the bodies are kinda janky. Sonic's legs should be not only shorter, but have a more defined knee joint. Limbs don't just curve from one bone to the next.
- The single hand that Silver shows is pretty good, but Shadow's and Sonic's could use some work. I suggest looking at your own hand for reference and sketching it in a litany of different poses to gain command of how the palm of the hand lookks (Sonic doesn't look like he really has one) and how the fingers fit together (Shadow just looks like he has five fingers and no thumb). In general, I find the best way to get accustomed to hand shapes is to start by drawing them as a mitten, then dividing the finger part in quarters.

Ah, thanks! I was just overall experimenting what would look good for them, but also remain in character. With Tails, heh, it just kinda happened that way. XD

I can see your point. The background was originally meant to be all-black, but I didn't like the sight of that big gap of black mass just jutting out. Either that or I'd crop out the picture, which would in turn cut out Tails' tails, which I didn't want to do. So that's why I threw in the stars.
I'm definitely not that experienced with shading, plus I don't really have the right amount of colors to pull them off on the other characters without lessening the impact of the image as a whole. I kinda followed the shading for Silver based on several ref pics I've seen of him as I was shading, so I kinda just mish-mashed what seemed fit.
Hands are not easy, I can tell you that right now. I actually do look at my own hands a lot, but it dosen't help much, especially the way how I process my art. I usually look at sketch refs of hands to get an idea of what to do.

Well, thanks! For the record, I usually shade by picking a color somewhere between black and dark blue and drawing the shadows in on a layer at less than 100% opacity (which obviously wouldn't work for a completely black character like Shadow, but hey).

I think you have done a good job with this. I really like the expressions on the black and yellow guys. Planning is key to the execution of anything complex. I like the use of stars in your "wasted space" though I would have used 5 for the 5 characters. It's good that you are challenging yourself. Challenge and especially failure are 2 important ingredients to growth as an artist or a person.
