Description Lance Henriksen as Terminator.
An obscure bit of movie history: originally Henriksen was cast to play the android from the future, as someone of a more average build and height would have had an easier time blending into the crowd as an infiltrator, while his distinct features and acting still would have created a strong presence on screen. Alas, it was not meant to be. He did get a consolation prize in the form of roles of detective Vukovich in the film and android Bishop in later Aliens. But I do wonder occasionally what the resulting movie would have been like...

Ooh, nice. I've also wondered what the movie would have been like with Henriksen in the titular role. I heard he showed up for the audition with tinfoil in his mouth and wearing weird eye makeup. People were ready to call the cops on him. Would have been interesting to see his interpretation.

Yeah, that's one of the anecdotes floating around. I imagine resulting film would have been far more low-key, think Carpenter's Halloween. Wouldn't have necessarily made as big of a splash, but it's fun to think about, hence the imagery

Wow, I had no idea about this.  Lance has always been a favorite face of mine since the Aliens movie.  I was very much pleased to see him cast in the Mass Effect games, as well.  Sci fi seems to suit him well.

It makes me sad that he didn't get the part for Terminator, but Arnie obviously had his own appeal, as well.

Quick painting?  It's very effective in communicating what the movie would have been like.  Perhaps it really would have been that much darker. D:

Given that the entire nature of the Terminator changed when Arnold came on board, at least tonally, I think it's safe to say it would have been far more deceitfully interesting. Scenes akin to Sarah walking right past the Terminator as it quietly scanned a crowd for her would have had a different air to them. Not just a physical threat, but a really unnerving psychological one. This invisible killing machine could reach out of the night and kill you for seemingly no reason, and then disappear once again.

I love the story's relating to Lance's preparation for the role. He apparently scared the HELL out of a few execs in his attempts to get into the role. Sitting in a reception area and acting very strangely.

Yep, reading that backstory about the way the film was being made was is fun!
Lance would have certainly brought a very different tone to the film, it's fun to imagine the possibilities.

That would have been awesome.

Great work - I can see this movie right before my eyes. Thank you for this picture.
