Description
The ancient giant bird Garuda. Like the phoenix, it can never die as it is reborn from its ashes.Took me around 7 hours (I didn't really count)

Description:
The Garuda is a huge crane-like bird. Its body feathers are red and its head/neck is golden orange. The tip of its wings and its face have black feathers. Some blue and green ones are also found on the Garuda's chest and its wing's shoulders. It draws its powers (mainly healing and fire/light elemental powers) from the red fiery gem on its chest. Destroying this gem is the only way of preventing the Garuda from rising again. It is not an easy task and is strongly advised against, since the Garuda is one the rare Legendary beasts that cares about other life forms and will use its healing powers on them.Part of the ultyzarus.deviantart.com/galle⦠(Crystaba Realms Project)

An absolutely stunning piece of work! I love the design of it and the rich, vibrant colours. You depict the kin of the Phoenix very much as I delight in envisioning them. Almost like a cross between a crane and an ibix. Beautifully merged and brought to blazing life.

Oh, Garuda! Isn't that a Hindu God? I think he helps Raman at one point in the Ramayana... reminds me of those stories we were told at school in India when I was little... VERY NICE! Lovely colours and design... I'm faving this: birds are my fave animals, and red and gold my fave colours! XD

Yes it is; a lot of the creatures and species I draw are inspired from Folklore and Mythology from around the Globe. However, it is a pity, but I don't know much of the details of these creature's legends.

That's cool! Well, I don't really know much about Garuda myself, except that he is a Hindu God that defeated a snake demon or something like that- kind of like it is said only a phoenix can defeat a basilic- maybe that's where the legend came from ^^.
Other than that, he is also represented as a man with big wings like a regular "angel" with a crown. You can look here if you want:

The Garuda (Sanskrit: GaruαΈa ΰ€ΰ€°ΰ₯ΰ€‘, eagle; PΔli GaruαΈ·a) is a large mythical bird or bird-like creature that appears in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology. It a lesser deity according to wikipedia when we created this Mytha in our story's universe my research told me it was like the Phoenix so this is why we pick the name and also because we already had a use for the Phoenix

Generally, they are drawn as birds of prey or peacock-like birds. I made it look more liek a crane, I think it suited it well.
