Jonathan entered the basement room without knocking. The walls were covered in graffiti and had clearly seen better days, the same was true for the raggedy sofa and the old table in front of it. Several strings of fairy lights above the simple futon tried their best to turn the basement into a real bedroom. And yet despite all that, all of this felt cosy. Maybe because he enjoyed the company this room of the house that the coven was squatting in provided.
Ben lay on the futon in nothing but boxers and looked up from his book as Jonathan came in.
"Hey there."
Jonathan didn't reply but took off his shirt and tossed it into a corner. His beanie had slipped off his head which surely lessened the dramatic effect of his performance as he had to pick it up and put it back on. He pushed out his chest.
"So, question: Am I just the flavour of the month? Were you just in the mood for toast?"
"Wow... that's... oddly specific."
"I talked to Charlie," Jonathan said.
"That's a mistake, you shouldn't do that." Ben's thick eyebrows arched up.
"He told me about you and Jess."
"And? That's over."
"I know. Jess is..."
"Black?" Ben chuckled.
"Yes. And a chick."
"Both things I noticed, so?"
Jonathan groaned. He had imagined this differently. Now he sounded like a fucking needy jealous boyfriend. Was he Ben's boyfriend? They hadn't put a label on it yet.
"You didn't tell me that you are bi."
"Would that change anything?"
"No," Jonathan said. Ben got off the bed and came over to him, wrapping him in his arms and kissing him.
"Did you really just call yourself toast?"
"Charlie did."
"See, this is why you shouldn't talk to him." Ben kissed him again. "You are not the flavour of the month and Charlie is a fucking bell-end."
"That's what I told him, too."
Jonathan smirked deviously. He was happy to hear that from Ben. Even though he tried to hide it, he did feel a little self-conscious about all of this. The coven was a tight-knit community and he was the new one. The new one who dated their leader.
"So... is that a beanie on toast, then?" Ben asked, tugging at Jonathan's beanie.
Jonathan blinked, the corners of his mouth twitched. "You'll pay for that."
"Make me..."

Welcome to the year 2005. Jonathan Bouchard, 19 years old, off to do his own thing. His aunt enrolled him at the London Coven after the untimely death of his parents, but Jon didn't stay long. He spent some time cheating his way through London, staying at hotels and hostels, always using his magic for personal gain, before he ran into Ben who recruited him into his coven. Ben became Jon's first boyfriend.
(he replaces Alexey who cropped up occasionally before because Alexey was basically a Velkan 1.0 character so we decided to created someone more interesting.)

This might look different from my usual work - again - I was trying something out with this because the picture looked boring.
