"What are you looking at?"
"Nothing." Velkan said quietly, his amber eyes fixed on something far beyond the horizon alight with the golden fire of the sinking sun.
David chuckled teasingly. "There is this beautiful sunset, a ruin on a hill and a charming river, not to mention the hunk you're here with and you are looking at nothing?" He came up to Velkan, snuggling against the wolf's broad back. "You know, quite frankly this is exactly your problem. You forgot how to live. You don't know how to appreciate beauty anymore, my friend. And you know what else? I made it my mission to lead you back."
"Did you now?" Velkan smirked, his voice making no effort to hide the sarcasm.
"Indeed I did.", David replied completely ignoring the other man's reluctance to aknowledge the valiant quest he had decided to set out on.
"What's your point in doing that?"
"Would you believe me if I said chivalry?"
"No."
"And rightfully so." David laughed amusingly. "Though it's not far from the truth. It started out as a favor for a mutual friend but it quickly became personal, I might add."
"Mutual friend?"
"Yes, handsome. You know, there's this lovely French fellow. I know you guys have been in touch and to be quite honest he is worried about you. He thinks over the care for your troubled pup you lost your way, forgot how to live."
"Luc." Velkan growled darkly, trying to hide the fact that he was happy to still have friends like him. "He can't keep his nose out of other people's affairs."
"Well as I understood he was the one who pointed you into the direction of little Barghest, didn't he? Or Dick, if you prefer. So it's only natural for him to care for both your wellbeing, especially your emotional state which, excuse my French, is pretty fucked up, my friend. And so I am here to change that. Make you see the light."
"And you think you are the man for that why exactly? A hunter cursed with lycanthropy, lost between his world and mine?"
"See, there it is!" David pointed out triumphantly, making Velkan turn towards him. "The gloom. The despair. Handsome, you will soon find out that I'm quite good at showing people the way out of darkness. I live life to the fullest and this is how you should do it. So I'm going nowhere until you learned to live again. For your sake and your pup's. You are my new project and I have to admit the job comes with a few perks. Your smoking hot body just being one of them."
Velkan rolled his eyes, though a faint smile gave away his amusement. "I could just make you disappear."
"Try me, big bad wolf. No chance." David stole a kiss from Velkan's lips, grinning at him mischievously afterwards. "So, I'm asking you again: What are you looking at?"
Velkan knew he should be annoyed with this intrusion in his private life but he had to admit the day they had spent together had been quite nice. Not to mention the sex. "You." he finally answered.
"That is a start.", David smirked.

I'm totally not happy with this. Actually abandoned it until pointed out he liked it. I painted in both beards because Velkan's looked out of place next to David's textured one. And in case you wondering, this is not yet another guy in the mix between Velkan, Jonathan and Dick but someone Velks meets almost a decade before Jonathan and who plays a vital part in making the wolf open up to life again.
