Jason and Ashton, short Ash. They become partners after Jason's previous partner, Randy, is killed on the job. Jason was outed as gay shortly before and many of his colleagues are blaming "the fag" for the well-liked Detective's death, because he died protecting Jason's lover from a serial killer.
Ash is an ex-MP who left the military and joined the police, making his way up quickly, becoming the youngest member of the homicide squad the Bay Department had ever had. He doesn't mind being Jason's new partner, despite the mocking of their colleagues. He quickly takes a liking in the troubled Detective, ultimately and definitely siding with him by smashing a locker door into another guy's face who was talking shit about Jason, breaking the colleague's nose in the process. He claimed it was an accident and got away with it.
Ash is very protective of those he loves, especially his ex-boyfriend Sylvester "Sly" McGrey who is a sober alcoholic. Jason is rather amused when he finds out that Ash is gay too (though they keep it a secret at work not to make things worse) but Jason's lover Chris is not. He's unsure if being partners at work will remain enough for the outgoing and attractive ex-soldier.

PS: Oh my, it seems my taste in men really did change. Both were perfect shonen-ai manga bishonen when I first created them. Clean shaven face and chest and no edges *lol*
