Description
Whitechurch Manor is an old house. Old houses hold secrets and no house more than this. Grown over centuries, the actual number of rooms unknown even to the current inhabitants. Large portions of the house are left to darkness, unused and forgotten. Their secrets waiting in the shadows.

We all know Jon stole that sheer shirt from Syd, don't we? This is super random. I wasn't very active lately, fighting a surge of depression by committing to completely rearranging my living quarters, throwing tons of stuff away and finding place for everything which so far had only been stacked in corners. Took me almost five days but I'm done. So I sent out Jon on a nightly excursion into the heart of Whitechurch Manor. Why is he holding a candelabra instead of a torch (flashlight, not the fiery kind) and why is his shirt open? I don't know. I like it that way

I love your Whitechurch Manor and I'm a little bit jealous of it... please tell me it has cellars and basements that were there before the Romans!
Jonathan can walk around with his shirt open all he likes, in fact he can walk around with nothing whatsoever as far as I'm concerned!
And I hope his candelabra chases the depression away together with any shadows...

Mal wieder auf Wanderschaft durch das Manor? Er kann es einfach nicht lassen, im Dunkeln zu kramen und sich in Schwierigkeiten zu bringen. Er sieht klasse aus, wie ihm die Haare halb übers Auge hängen. Und ja, mir würde es auch nichts ausmachen, mit ihm im Dunkeln zusammenzustoßen!

They say that some old buildings have their own character or 'atmosphere'. Perhaps in the case of Whitechurch Manor this is far more true... Maybe the number of rooms is unknown because the manor has a kind of sentience about it. Perhaps it has been damaged and rebuilt time and again over the decades and centuries. Perhaps it 'remembers' old rooms and brings them back like ghosts from time to time... shifts walls that were more recently build that it doesn't particularly like. Perhaps areas of the Manor are more magically charged than others due to the use of powerful magical rites performed over time that have left the Manor in a state of flux.
Maybe some rooms and areas are left unused because what happened there still remains as a tangible memory, and that memory keeps on coming back, rendering those areas just too dangerous right now. If the Manor does have some kind of sentience, perhaps the trauma of what happened in those areas is still too raw, and the Manor needs more time to heal.
Maybe Jonathan carries a candelabra because he knows that, sometimes, magic and technology just don't like to mix and a flashlight would be just too unreliable in some areas of the Manor. We've all seen the movies where the kids are walking around a creepy old house, and suddenly their flashlights start to flicker and then die... right before someone gets dragged away, screaming, by an unseen shadow. Not that a candelabra is much more reliable... any sentient house wanting to preserve its secrets could easily open a crack and cause an extinguishing breeze...
As for Jonathan's attire, I figure he was either just settling down for the night and something - a sound or a feeling - suddenly grabbed his attention and needed to be investigated. He's in familiar surroundings, with familiar people who know him well. Wandering with an open shirt around the Manor doesn't seem unseemly for him.
This is such an atmospheric piece of work. Even Jonathan's expression seems to tell us that he is familiar with where he is in the Manor, but something just isn't quite right.
