Inspired by a TR Legend Artwork... damn those cheap textures of the cliff >.<EDIT: This piece is getting a huuuuge amount of attention lately which honestly came as a complete surprise to me as it is 4 years old and certainly has its flaws since I was only starting out on 3D rendering back then. Anyways, many people keep mentioning Nate looks like Jake English, I have not the slightest clue who that is until I googled him after the like tenth comment mentioning him. *lol* I guess it's the glasses too which Nate is usually not wearing
This is my male Tomb Raider character Nathan Thomas (named in complete unawareness of Nathan Drake back then *d'oh*) and not Jake English. There are a lot of more recent artwork of him in my gallery too.
Having said that I'm incredibly grateful for all the attention this piece gets, for all the comments and favs and I still can't really wrap my head around this *lol* Thanks guys!

This is great and all, but his shorts are essentially briefs. As a guy, I know that out of all the things I'd flaunt, my balls would be the last. Girls wear shorts to highlight their legs, which I guess is fine here too - but girls don't go around flaunting their crotch; even when wearing panty like bikini bottoms. This guy's shorts takes away a lot of the seriousness.

And I get your point, really I do. Applying to girls and straight guys this is definitely true but Nate was a result of taking Lara Croft into a gay character for a gay art gallery when I started with pictures of him. And it were his briefs and the huge bulge, which I added since he is wearing the real Tomb Raider Legend pants actually, which made the character very popular in the first place. I even got fanart of him back then (this picture is old if you look at the signatur). Since then I experimented with more realistic clothing and longer pants but never gained the kind of success again he had back then. Being a gay guy myself I can assure you that a bulge in tight speedos can be more than an eyecatcher
And at the end of the day Nate was never planned as a serious character, I didn't even plan to make him a regular. He developed a life of his own and suddenly had this rather huge fanbase in Y!Gallery and everything went on from there and started with the pants I guess.
As you can see here [link] Nate not only wears those briefs but when he does the pictures are the bigger success *shrug* Guess sex sells.

Nah, that's okay. Your arguments were totally valid. I mean the pants are ridiculous on a guy, he more or less just wears what the dudes at Bondi Beach in Australia are wearing and he goes adventuring with it *lol*
Honestly the longer I had this character the more I tried to go into a more serious approach. I know there is Nathan Drake from Uncharted by now so we have a legitimate male Tomb Raider character but still I like my Nate (name is a coincidence, I didn't know Uncharted when I created him) and I sometimes tried to show him a little less as the sex fantasy like here for example: [link]
I crossed him over with other characters of mine and of a friend here. But in the end of the day it's pictures like this which get the attention. I mean this one is 4 years old and honestly I think I improved since then but still none of my new pictures gets 3000 views a day like this one now did. I don't know if this is depressing or awesome, haha.

Yes I would believe that. A few months ago I didn't even know the name. But to be fair, he is kind of a male Lara Croft so it's easy to see why people would say that.
