"Are you seeing this?" Jonathan asked as he ran his hand over the crystal. It reacted, lighting up and sparkling even stronger than before. Jonathan's necklace started to hum and vibrated against his skin.

"The image is distorted... something.... interfering." Lily's voice crackled as it came through the earpiece. The connection was deteriorating but Jonathan didn't even notice.

"This must be the same material they used to create the focus necklace." He reached up and touched the stone around his neck. It was warm and the glow stronger than ever before. "This is brilliant."

"Kid, we're losing... signal... you should... back." It was even harder to make out what Velkan said than it had been for Lily's transmission. However, Jonathan wasn't ready to go back. Not yet. Not so close to understanding more about what he had become.

"It's fine." he said. "I'll just go a little further in."
