Description Inspired by this post: [link]

Went to the colorlovers site and grabbed the five top popular palettes, and made characters based on what came to my mind first. Sadly I had to add an extra color for the robot because the colors available were too... garish. Though, if it makes you feel any better, the 'white' is the darkest blue applied lightly over white, so its at least derived from the original color. Same for the ocean prince's skincolor.

It is pretty fun!
If I do it again, have to try to refine the designs more/make scenes with the colors instead. Hm hm!

Such cute little things, I like the saytr's design.

Thank you~
The satyr was originally constructed entirely of upside down teardrops, but I started getting worried that the Tumblr Social Justice would kill me for portraying an exaggeratedly thin female. e_e'''
A bit of a silly reason to worry but a worry nonetheless.

They'd really do that?

Tumblr social justice is full of idiots who get offended over things that shouldn't offend them, and get offended in others' stead even if the other one wouldn't actually get offended by the subject matter.

I doubt heavily they would bother with my blog, though.

Indeed..!

Hm, I don't think it would have been stylized enough to be entirely unified anyway, so..!

What do you mean?

umbbe In reply to AncientSimian [2012-12-29 03:30:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, the forms would have been super-stylized (even tinier waist, for example) but it would still have had hairclumps and all that kind of detail to suggest that it was attempting at a more realistic style, so it would have looked even more like a mistake..!

Though one can question whether the current version is any less wrong-looking..! Maybe it isn't since you liked it. You would probably have picked out the inconsistency and liked it less?

In terms of body proportion the saytr looks fine, I'm curious as to how it was originally going to look now...

Wow, that is a tiny waist. But I'd hardly call it offensive, I think they'd be over reacting.

Yeah... You never know though. Maybe I have been reading too much escher girls or something, since Im so worried about being judged like that! BAH!

It's a tumblr about how comic books do women horrible injustice. It is valid, but there is also a lot of that overreacting fanbase frequenting there.

[link] An example of a very badly screwed up female. :V!

Ouch, that looks way more painful than sexy!! I can't help but feel the creator
had some rather different ideas of how anatomy work...

Most comic-book artists seem to just learn from each other rather than from life, so it'll lead to some very 'inbred' styles.

(the biggest problem the blog points out that females are always expected to look sexy at the expense of everything else.
I guess I was a bit lost there myself, since I forgot that thin waists aren't bad themselves as long as it isn't like that just to make the ass and boobs bigger or something. Hm hm...)

I have to admit I find the problem with making women "look sexy"
rather annoying, a gaming series I play named "Monster hunter" does this a lot.

Mainly they give the male players bulky protective armour, whilst giving female
players rather skimpy and revealing armours, and it gets seemingly more revealing
the higher the level of protection...

Yeah, I get incredibly frustated and annoyed by that trend too. Most of the time I refuse to play as a female due to these design-fails. :l

It undermines the entire game when sexiness goes ahead of design.

Mmmm, I do love it when games make women cover up,
one its more practical and two it looks nicer.

Personally the best situation I can imagine is when men and women have the same armor, and there are no boobplates or anything like that. Perhaps some surface detail if they fancy that, but otherwise pure function over form.
