Description I wanted to do the evolution thing did a couple years ago: ([link] )
Sadly my rendering skills are not on par with his, so I settled with lineart.
Basically the idea was to exaggerate aspects of the design, so the animal would get more extreme with each iteration. I chose, similarly to m0ai, (the whole design is really heavily inspired) to work on my creature's limbs and head the most. It was pretty fun~

has a really good theory. I do like the exaggeration as it looks really creative without looking far our ridiculous.

Indeed, it could be a good way to make animals based on real ones. For example, exaggerating from a canine or a cow, and understating certain parts.

Hehe. Looks like it evolved due to shortages in vegatation, causing it to evolve from a herbivore to an omnivore to a carnivore(when the beak was fully developed) as a predator, having to deal with animals much larger than itself or possibly short creatures that would jump at it in packs. It also looks like it would primarily eat fish or other water-borne species, hence the tail, and the large surface area on the hands.

It makes SENSE.

..! Thats a really good job at interpreting the changes!

The increased jaw-size might hint at some kind of hard-shelled prey? Maybe some kind of armored fishies or crustaceans.

Turtles :3

The crest looks like it's to increase the biting action, plus it has a beak, so yeah.

Crabs and turtles.

Also if it's toothless inside that beak(if it isn't, then it probably has scary teeth like a squid's) then it's probably eating something with incredibly soft meat.

From what I remember, beak is actually better than teeth... Hm! Might be better in that its better at the general stuff. :V!

Teeth are for chewing, beaks are a lot stronger but you can't chew, but can break a lot more than teeth without breaking. Any animal that evolved hard shells would probably have soft meat anyway.
Squids however have teeth behind their beak which are all attached to pure muscle like a toothy tongue, that shreds any meat to, well, shreds.

Hm, true that. However I believe predatory animals don't chew their food anyway, they mainly rip bite-sized shreds and gobble them down.
I wonder what would cause an animal's meat to soften/harden. Having few muscles is not very advantageous... I guess the shell/armor makes it more attractive to just save energy.
