Description
There was a challenge issued in said group to draw your character fighting a monster. I am happy to oblige.While Walt is friendly and avoids strife, his fighting style is very violent. Sparrin is not advisable.
He's using magic to invoke an earth-element into his claws and teeth -> they're sharp as blades and more durable too.

I am pretty much like Walt.Β Laid-back, but violent when I have to beat up someone who supports ISIS or Creationism, and luckily that hasn't happened yet.Β So, you're pretty much safe...for now.

Β Awesome looking! I love the characters that are nice and quiet until you make them mad. Beware the quiet ones! I notice his eyes seem wider and brighter then the other pic. Does this have to do with his powers being activated or is he in like battle rage?

I think it's more about him having an adrenaline rush/frenzy. In my headcanons crocs and their like get easily carried away when fighting in melee.

Part of it is because of the history I've made up for his family/race - saltie crocs are generally distrusted since they're stereotyped maneaters, so Walt's family did all kinds of things to blend in. They would even practice to speak with as little mouth opening as possible.
His father was the same way - didn't care for fighting or arguing loudly. He just mumbled when Walt's mother (a very feisty lady) got started on a topic.

The concept is that they can change from an anthropomorphic version into a regular animal, so when he's anthropomorphic (in clothes, basically) he's bipedal, ad otherwise quadrupedal. : D
That's pretty interesting if he's looking friendly even while fighting. Maybe I was subconsciously injecting the expression for that. c:

I think it's more a magic thing - they just immediately turn into an animal without clothes on/with limited clothing items on, and turn back with clothes back on.
Clothes have many advantages, such as retaining heat and being able to express yourself, even if there isn't any modesty to be considered (not sure what the rules are, many other characters are more humanised so they have something to be modest about.)
The rp is based in contemporary fantasy world (think cellphones and pegasus knights in the same world) so he's living in a rented house/apartment (not sure) near the cafe.
EXTRA friendly. The reason he bites his foes is simply, it's his strongest weapon. A saltwater crocodile can crush the skull of a cow in its jaws, if what google fu tells me is correct.
He's not a book-mage. I'm using the class Sorcerer to describe his magic abilities - he's innately able to use magic. This has worked into his species' typical fighting style of tearing enemies apart with their teeth.

Why would he and why does he transform back and forth from bipedal to quadrupedal? Does he like to be on the wild side lol? Why doesn't he stay one form?

I personally imagine the animal form is the natural form for most of these beings, and feels better to be in that form. However, Waltraud almost never uses the animal form outside of a fight, because he's been taught that crocodiles should not be in that form when in company. (I suppose he likes to go swimming as a normal croc.)
In a fight it's sometimes useful to be a 7-meter crocodile. He automatically has less power behind his attacks in humanoid form because he doesn't weigh as much. (however in croc form he can't use magic nearly as well -> trade off).
He's actually bitten the monster already, that's why he has black color on his teeth. (the monster having black blood.) I wasn't imagining the exact flow of the battle with this picture, I suppose he was trying to wrestle a good position to tear at the thing again.

So can he still talk while in his animal form or does he lose all form of sentience? Lol, you should draw him swimming in his normal form. That would be cool. So hes a 7-meter long croc? Wow, hes really big lol.

I haven't decided if he can, he still has the same sentience as he does in humanoid form.
I should, shouldn't I... 7 meters is an uncommon but very possible size for a male saltie, and I'm always a fan of extremes. : DD
It really depends on the fight and the opponent which form is more useful - an elusive enemy is probably easier to catch when you're bipedal than quadrupedal.
I think I defined that he can create elemental armors and breathe the element (like a dragon) as a normalcroc, so there can be a fight where it's useful to be like that.
He's just not very eager to do that.

Um, he's around two meters tall in human form, his tail is almost as as long as the rest of the body.
The constraints were to place the character somewhere in the human height range, give or take a little.

Well, I think dinosaurs are allowed as well. There are fantasy and made up animals too, after all. (the only limitation is that the characters can't be just cursed humans or whatever.)
I designed a russian parasaurolophus on a lark, but I'm not really proficient enough to keep more than one character straight in a rp.
