alright so.
I talked about this a bit on 18.1, but it wasn't until I started writing these pages that I realized what a big disadvantage I was at. my memories of my playthrough are fuzzy, but I don't think it even occurred to me that almost all of my team was weak here. it was one of my first nuz runs, I did dumb things, I forgot type match-ups all the time, I didn't prep at all, and I was terrible at catching (which ultimately worked for keeping my cast smaller, but still).
there's dozens of people who will testify to whitney's difficulty, and dozens more who will parade that that's just an over-exaggeration and she's really not that bad. plenty of people know the reputation, prep enough, have the strong enough 'mons, and get out with little trouble.
I was clearly not one of those people.
leon was low on health. someone had to go in there.

yeahhh and that's perfectly fair, it's something I think about a lot actually. when I first started it never really crossed my mind at the time but it is kind of unfortunate that one of the only big characters just happens to be the one who dies first. I wish I could go back and make some smarter changes about that. thank you though, it's something I hope to think more about in future work! and yeah, I really wanted that ariados ;w;

Man this is sad, but also, really well done! I pretty much saw it coming with the scarf, but yeah, that was a nice touch. This was a really well done death scene - not like overly dramatic, but nice and subtle. Also, as usual, your color palettes are wonderful.
Whitney sucks (not your character, but the game person in general)! Seriously one of the toughest gym battles out there! Prepared or not, she's scary.

So is it bad to say I saw this coming? All the emphasis on, "we try our best not to kill anyone" raised a lot of red flags, and...well, I've been Nuzlocking long enough to know that Bug types never last long, not unless you're super lucky.
The scene with the scarf was the final nail in the coffin; equivalent to a police officer pulling out a picture of his wife and kids on his last day on the job. I was waiting for it.
