Description
A young Caesintril lady shows off the scale ink designs on her mane. Scale ink is a henna-like substance dragonborn use to decorate their mane and scales. Some designs are personal aesthetic for the wearer, while others convey social status such as marriage or rank. The designs will fade eventually, but this simply gives the user the opportunity to try a new look if they wish. For married couples, reapplying each other's ink is a beloved bonding ritual - faded bond patterns are a sign of a lackluster marriage, while consistently dark ones show the strength of the union. This young lady is unmarried - her marks are simply aesthetically pleasing to her.
This art is part of an impromptu "Lorebruary" challenge I've set for myself, which is intended to give me an excuse to do more digital art and flesh out my homebrew D&D world a bit more. Inspiration struck after my earlier dragonborn drawing and I'm very pleased with the result.
