Description
Alright, , let's see how this turns out!First things first: While the movie is loading, you can flip through a mini-comic that serves as sort of a prologue to the action. Click on the little arrows where it says "PAGE" to -- well, to turn the page.
Next things next: This brawl against Saltman is actually an extension of the last brawl that ~Huoryu and I did. So for reference, you might want to peek at these: [link] [link] And if you're confused about the squid, watch: [link] You may not be any less confused, but at least you'll know there's some sort of reason for it to be there.
So... this has been a very different sort of project compared to everything else I've done so far. Saltman is a really fun character to work with, very open-ended with what he can do, and so I went all-out. I experimented freely with poses and expressions and even used a mask effect for Saltman's mouth. In the end, I'm pretty sure he upstages Baninja in the toon even though Baninja wins the conflict.
I also ended up having to make the music for it myself. All I wanted was a simple beat featuring shakers, and no one could provide. My stand-by music man had something that he thought could work for it, but he never sent me the file before he went on vacation. I searched the internet high and low but could find nothing that stood out. But I did stumble across this VST plug-in that can turn any audio into a realistic-sounding shaker, so i plugged it into Audacity and turned a bunch of punching and swooshing sound effects into shakers, and composed my own beat. It was a real headache. Music, for me, is a spectator's sport. But I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out.
If this cartoon ever gets made into a movie, we'll have to genetically engineer a Morgan L. Glover to play the part of Commander My God.
That's enough yappin' for now. Watch the cartoon!
... and don't miss the Easter egg at the end...!

Thanks! Some hardcore animators believe that using tweens is cheating -- but it's a real time-saver for me and you can really push it to do some complex effects.

Trust I know about complex tweening . I basically tweened an entire animation. Its not to often I see others that do it right thats why I had to commend you.
[link] <----------my "tweened" animation
However I have become more interested in frame by frame animations recently and will only use tweens when I need to.
Which Version of Flash do you use???

I've been upping the amount of frame-by-frame in my stuff as well. In Banana Shop of Horrors Pt. 5 , the part with the crazy swinging of candle-chucks was all FBF, and Battle of the Elements has the most FBF I've done yet.
That was a surreal bit of work you had there, hehe.
Not too long ago I graduated from Sothink SWF Quicker to Flash CS3. I've gotten really curious about CS4's features though so I'll probably upgrade in a little while.

lmao I like the banana animation...very creative!
I use flash CS4...The best thing about it would be the new motion tweening and the bone tool(IK).

Aye, the bone tool and the 3-D angling are the biggest reasons I want to upgrade (in fact, they'd be immensely helpful in my current project). The Sothink program actually had the better tween easing functions long before Adobe picked it up, which kinda made me chuckle....

Yea I know of several vector and animation programs that has some really good features that adobe flash doesn't have.

Wow, lovely! You did an excellent job with the soundtrack - and you made the music? Impressive! - and Saltman's faces were very expressive and in-character. Also, neat ending with the slug. Good luck!

Thanks! Saltman is a really expressive guy, so there was a lot of room for experimentation.
Considering you've done some impressive Flash yourself, your compliment means a lot!

Well, he'll be animated if that's what you mean. But Chaos is a whole different kind of character, so I'd treat it a lot differently. The tone will probably be a little darker and more serious.
But still humorous. Baninja can't throw down without the humor.

Thanks! Though having done more frame-by frame and such than I've ever done before, I'm inclined to disagree with the "too simple." But my skills are still developing and my animations gain more complexity with each one.
