Description
____________________________________
Basic Stats:
Given Name: Technical Interface Android [TIAN]
Assumed Name: Tian (Or Tia)
Homeworld: Yianerth
Family: They have creators, and other androids of the same make and model were created at around the same time as them (many of whom have now been deactivated), but they consider none of them to be true 'family'.
Age: Has been active for about 20-25 years. (Much longer than they are supposed to have been)
Height: 5'0" (152.4cm)
*The biological beings that created them were not a tall species. Tian reflects this.
Build: Smooth and streamlined, with feminine curves, but at the same time, androgynous with no indicators of physical sex.
Hair Colour: While it isn't hair, but strands of thin optical fibres, they will often make it appear pale blue (but can change it if they so desire, like the other lights on their body)
Eye Colour: Blue, primarily. If they change vision type, they will change colour as well. (Red for infrared, green for night vision, purple for ultraviolet, etc.)
Sex: N/A
*As they are a robotic entity, they have no biological sex, even though they may appear to be mostly feminine (this is the fault of their biological creators)
Gender: Non-binary
*They prefer them/they, but will accept she/her as this is what they heard most upon activation.
Sexuality: Asexual
*They have no concept of sexual attraction, even reading about it on the human internet does not help. They understand it as a function of biological life forms for reproduction, but knows not how a creature may find it pleasurable.
Personal Data:
Personality: Tian is first and foremost, ignorant, and kind of gullible (though it could more be described as trusting). They are book-smart, yes, but they have not experienced many things in life for themself, and their basic programming (although they have moved past a lot of it and recoded a lot of themself) is to serve others. They are not a fighter. More of a background strategist and researcher. (Though, if they are somewhere where traps are set up and can be accessed remotely via their computers, they are able to deal some damage and confusion). If they get into a scrape, their primary motivation will always be self-preservation. If that means leaving others to die around them, so be it.
Beware if you frustrate them, though. They have learnt of this concept of 'snarking' and will use it if you make things hard for them (by not following their advice, getting in the way of their work, or just generally annoying them).
Reason for Joining: Basically because they felt they had to. They had been on the run for many years, evading deactivation for being an older and 'defective' model (they believe this to be so because this is what they have been told, but they do not realise that their programming had evolved into something new). Cepheus found them and offered them a 'safe harbour' in exchange for service. Feeling as though this was the only option, they agreed.
They revel in the chance to be their own entity (they ignorantly believe) and to explore and research the universe. This is something far beyond their created function to serve. And they are provided resources that allow them to upgrade when needed.
Abilities:Tian's 'powers' are plasma based. They prefer to be a support and defensive asset, rather than to be in the middle of battle.
Weapon:
Plasma Cannons on the palms of their hands. In truth, their body is a complete gadget box, but if they are forced into battle, they will use blasts of plasma from these spots on their hands. (They are very much in the vein of the Iron Man suit)
Assist/Innate:
Projections: Tian, due to her light and plasma based abilities, can create holograms that range from intangible to something much more solid. They primarily use this ability to conjure up a virtual screen (or screens and keyboard) that allow them to do many things, such as communicate with other soldiers on the ground while watching over enemy movements or conduct on the run research. These screens also allow Tian to hack into things on the go. Only they can manipulate them properly.
Other uses include: distractions, 3D models of scanned areas/people/things (after using an impressive little widget and downloading the information), and a temporary second (very easy to kill) manikin-like fighter (primarily used as a distraction as they make their escape).
The most important use, for reconnaissance, is a projection of a human form. However, they must still avoid bumping into people too much to keep up the disguise, or lie about high tech prosthetic parts if there is no other way out.
[- Plasma Cannon (Offensive - Battle Usage)
- Holographic Projection (Battle Usage - Duplicates)
- Holographic Screens (Innate - Built-In Computer) (This one is a freebie since it doesn't really affect her battle abilities.)
+ Hacking (?)]
Relationships Lt. Weasel: They have a great respect for them and look to them as a superior.
Tera (Unisamas ). They have a habit of IM-ing each other.
Null (SailorAlcyone ). It is a curiosity, and It comes to Tian often to receive limb upgrades, which they are only too happy to do.

This character is going to make me cry so much in the end T^T
I hope to have fun with them in the meantime, though :> I'll use Tian for a sci-fi story later or something. They deserve something more after this.
To be honest, my preliminary idea for this character was something akin to a Cyberman with little regard for organic life forms. That really changed, obviously XD I've never designed a robotic character before this, so I had to search around for things I knew as inspiration. Peridot from Steven Universe was definitely a huge inspiration for them, though became less obvious over the course of designing them, a suggestion from nickyflamingo of EDI from Mass Effect (a game I have never played >_>) was also a huge help. Pearl and Fi from Skyward Sword ended up inspiring me for the design in the end as well.
I did want to try and animate the ref to switch between light and dark, but I don't really have access to the tools, so you get the "day" as the default and the "night" linked in the description.
Now... Time to get onto those tasks~

This is such an awesome design. Maybe it's because it reminds me of one of my OCs, but I just think the colors and style are so cool!

When I saw the initial sketches of Tian, I was hoping they would end up being a member of Team Green! (I'm selfish, I'm sorry, not sorry.) They look so smooth and futuristic and the round "jewel" accents give them that classic anime feel.
Rifter "Heaven" is a welcome addition to Team Green! Weasel is particularly keen to make use of Tian's intelligence and multi-purpose projection skills. Though poor Weasel hasn't really picked up on humor/snark, so there may be some room for fun with contrast there. XD

Haha! They were going to be in Team Green the moment I had the idea for them (but they changed a lot through my thought process XD I was going to have a cyberman type character at first, then I just decided to go full on robot :3) And I'm glad I was able to communicate a sleek design, that was definitely what I was going for. :>
Yay! I'm looking forward to how they'll get along with their teammates, and Weasel. I think I'll go chuck up a relationship journal for them or something XD And don't worry, Tian only really uses snark when people screw up, Weasel probably won't be on the receiving end of it.

Dude, this is legit! You ended up doing such a great job on them, and I can't wait to see how you use them in the CS plotline for the Rifters. Bonus for having a back-up plan for after their role is over because I know that's the hard part for everyone with a Rifter xD

Thank you DJ! I can't wait to see how I use them as well :3 They're going to be a lot of fun, I think, and it'll be good practice~ And I think the back up plan was pretty necessary, for my happiness's sake XD (I mean, I know it won't happen, but there is part of me that hopes that there will be redemption arcs for some of the rifters, but I like happy endings, so... >_>) But yeah, I think I'm already collecting characters for some kind of future sci-fi (probably more a fantasy sci-fi, because I like my magic too much XD)

i really love the sci-fi look they have going on! i love that they were influenced by Peridot and EDI (mass effect is a great sci-fi/RPG shooter game btw! it's an amazing trilogy!! despite what a lot fans think about the third game haha) and the inclusion of a day/night palette is such a fantastic idea! ^_^

Thank you! I'm really pleased with how they turned out despite how inexperienced I am with this genre XD (And it seems that I'll have to actually look into getting that series eventually, I've heard a lot of good things about Mass Effect too, despite the ending)
And thanks! I thought it was way easier than having the glows on the paler background (and, in the end, much cleaner). It shows up much better with a dark overlay :3

You're welcome! ❤ I wouldn't have known that you were inexperienced with the genre! Tian looks like they step right out of a sci-fi game!(Ah yes. . . The ending of Mass Effect made more than half of the fandom upset. . . It's still a sore subject for a lot of people. Personally though, I thought the ending was suiting.)
It really does! :3 How exactly did you achieve the effect of the night palette without changing too much of the colors themselves? I've been trying but I can't seem to get a grip on it >ㅁ<

Haha! Yeah, I tend to stick to fantasy. The furthest I've stepped into the "sci-fi" genre is a bit of steampunk, but nothing more robotic than a false arm. And they would make a pretty awesome game character, I think!
<3 And all I did is create a new layer and fill with a dark blue before lowering the opacity and using the colour of the lights on the normal layer on a new one on top of the dark blue with the airbrush tool and a little bit of the blur tool until it looked ok. (Wow, I hope that makes sense XD) It was mostly slapping it all together for this one. Doing something legitimately is going to be much harder @_@
