Basic Overview

Name: Tarana Farid (Note that this isn't her true name [that contains sounds and pitches that a human just can't make], they're Earth sounds that she found described the basics of the meaning well enough.)
Age: Appears to be in her late teens or early 20s. She is actually about 30-35 Earth years old. (Her home planet orbits at about the same rate as Venus)
Date of Birth: 70th day of the Windy Season (a period of time when hyperstorms constantly blow above the waves of her homeworld).

Senshi Name: Alathfar
Realm of Influence: Sound (with a bit of a focus on Tone).
Powers / Abilities:
Sonic Scream: Pretty much what it says on the tin. It is a useful attack with many uses, mostly defensive. It can incapacitate anyone who hears it and, when used directionally, is capable of pushing back some types of ranged attacks and even people. (Can be a double-edged sword. Anyone in the general vicinity of this attack will be incapacitated, friend and foe alike.) Creates a pulse when used underwater.
Sound Wall: Alathfar manipulates sound waves to create an impenetrable wall for a very limited time.

Innate Abilities
Shark Skin: Tarana's skin is naturally rough, like sandpaper. Physical contact may leave you bleeding. Suffice to say, any physical attacks she does will also deal extra damage.
Water Breathing: Tarana's species is amphibious, with both gills and lungs. Her gills are stronger than her lungs, however, as they are beginning to become useless in her species. This makes Tarana a much more of a force to be reckoned with underwater than on land.
Electroreception: She can sense the electromagnetic fields that all living things produce, and magnetic fields. This allows her to hunt for prey (or enemies) much easier, and to orientate and navigate through the oceans, and sometimes on land.

Personality Overview:
Tarana is a predator. She is dominating, persistent, and always determined to get what she wants. And when things don't go her way, she loses her very short temper. She will be the leader, by force if she has to. She will only work well in a group in this position. She may come off as arrogant and vicious, and that's good, because that's precisely what she is. Don't expect her to be your friend right away, you must prove yourself worthy of being that close to her.

Brief History:
Tarana hatched from her egg while the waves were in turmoil, though being so far under the water, it was not something she or her brothers and sisters felt. She was raised by her clan to be a hunter and warrior, and was only one of three of her siblings to complete the coming of age ceremony.

Her calling as a guardian of her planet's star began only recently when she found the Alathfar brooch lodged in the teeth of a particularly vicious beast of the deep. So far, the threat has not revealed itself in any great way, but she can feel something is coming.

1. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to us.
"I am Guardian Alathfar," the new contestant said with a strange and melodious accent. "My true name would be unintelligible and unpronounceable to humans, so you may call me Tarana Farid. I come from a world of vast oceans, far away," she passed her webbed hand through the air in front of them, "in the constellation that Earthlings call Lyra."

2. Tell us something that will help us remember you.
Tarana frowned. "What you see is not enough to help you remember me?" She sighed and crossed her arms. "Fine. As you may know, your Earth sharks have teeth that replace themselves quickly and thousands of times during their lives. My teeth, which are just as sharp, do much the same thing."

3. Describe your typical day.
"My typical day usually involves swimming and hunting." She shrugged. "It really isn't interesting. I go exploring above the seas sometimes, but those usually aren't typical days."

4. What makes you happy and what makes you scared?
"Winning. Winning makes me happy. Being the best makes me happy. And what do I fear? The crushing depths of my home's oceans, of course. My body isn't built for that kind of darkness, and the most dangerous of creatures live down there." She paused for a moment and turned back to the MC as if struck with another thought. "Being caught on land without water as well. I've been dehydrated before, it's something I don't want to experience if I can help it."

5. What do you find most challenging about being a senshi?
Tarana laughed. "Are you serious? People find it challenging? I assume so, since you have to ask that question." She shrugged. "It's true that fighting can be tiring, and making sure no one's in the way can be troublesome sometimes, but I generally don't see my life as a guardian and warrior challenging. If I really have to say anything is challenging, my foes are not always easy to take down. I hate to admit it, but some of them are too powerful for me on my own at my current level."

6. Who is your role model and how do they inspire you?
"I look up to the heroes of old whose legends are passed down in stories by my people. I aspire to be just like them, at least to be like the ones who managed not to die in stupid ways."

7. What would you name your autobiography?
Tarana laughed. "Write my own story? Are you kidding me? I want my feats to go down in legends told by people I save like the ancient heroes. The Guardian of the Deep, that's how I want to be remembered."

8. Do you believe in fate/destiny, or do you believe you write your own story?
Her brows knitted. "These are some very disconnected questions. You want my views on philosophy now? Okay..." She tapped her lips. "I believe that there is an end goal in place, but the way you get there isn't set in stone. Nothing can dictate every single action you take in life."

9. Do you have other teammates? What are they like? If not, do you wish you had some?
She shook her head. "If I have teammates, I haven't met them. But that's fine." Tarana shrugged. "Without teammates I don't have to worry about people getting in the way, and I don't have to fight them away from my position as leader. Admittedly, teammates would make things easier as well."

10. What do you hope to accomplish by competing in this pageant?
"I hope to win. What else?"

11. Do you have anyone special out there cheering for you? Would you like to give them a shout out?
"No, there's no one here I know cheering for me." She grinned, showing off gleaming white sharp teeth. "But I'm sure there will be people cheering for me before the end."

Artist's Comments

Starting off late. Hopefully it gets better from here XD Though I am worrying about round 1, since I'm not going to be home for the end of December and beginning of January. My aunt will have watercolours for me to use, I'm sure, but since I'm still not hugely confident with them, I may have to rush out the next round the moment it gets announced.

Also, yay, I've finally started using one of the characters I've adopted! I don't think that's actually happened yet XD This character was supposed to be for another group, but I haven't heard from the owner of that group for a while now. Until then, this is a canon AU or something. I want to add in a bit where she goes to Earth for whatever reason, because I have a really cool human disguise in my head for Tarana after playing Pokemon Moon, but I'm still not 100% on her backstory yet, since she's brand new and all. I honestly don't know what she's fighting yet, so hopefully MSP will help me develop that. (Sailor Moon FC villains are always the hardest things for me to come up with to be honest XD They always veer off into original story territory if I'm not careful).

Also, an overconfident character like this is way different from my usual, so hopefully that gets better. And I'm sorry, Tarana, but you'd probably only come out on top here if this was an all out brawl XD There's some really tough competition. I can't wait to see how much my art can grow through this, it's been a while since I've had a decent amount of critique. And I should be able to get past round 2 this time, there's nothing to distract me.

Starting off late. Hopefully it gets better from here XD Though I am worrying about round 1, since I'm not going to be home for the end of December and beginning of January.
