Eight fortune gods of the Yokai, known as the Fukujin, were born when the Yokai Father God Izanagi imparted fragments of his power into eight treasured luck charms. Ebisu, Daikokuten, Bishamonten, Benzaiten, Fukurokuju, Jurojin, Hotei, and Kisshoten. They were supposedly first created about 500 years prior to the Ninmenjushin story, but who knows the exact date.

Kisshoten specifically resonated with beauty, happiness, and fertility - her fellow Fukujin believed she'd make a great mother one day, though she preferred to focus on her services to the people. So long as everyone was happy, she could feel happy...so she believed. However, her faith was shaken during the events of World War II, when she saw the absolute worst in mankind. It would only be during the aftermath of the war that she could calm down at all and see what good the people were doing to mend the wounds of the war.

Much later on, the Fukujin were sent to quell a number of rampages by some mysterious cult. Kisshoten specifically was sent to a small suburban community near the city of Kairiku. But, some of the crazies leading the attack blocked her off, inflicted grievous wounds, and tossed her back toward the woods bordering Kairiku. She would be discovered by the Jinja no Fukujin's current caretaker, Seijin Gekkani. She was in her feral wolf form, though, so he didn't realize immediately that she was a Yokai. Regardless, he showed great concern for her and brought her to his place to treat her wounds. Seijin was quite surprised that this wolf was this tame, and that her wounds were healing fairly quickly after treatment.

Soon, Seijin felt it was time for this wolf to head on back to the forest that he found her in. And so, Kisshoten resumed her mission...but found that she was too late. The suburbs were already destroyed long ago. She felt guilty that she couldn't recover sooner to stop this senseless rampage. However, she realized that someone as kind-hearted as Seijin could inspire a lot of good in everyone. So she returned to the Jinja no Fukujin (in feral form, of course), pretty much insisting that Seijin let her stick around. He eventually decided to accept this wolf, and nicknamed her Enzeru.

Over time, Seijin found that a lot of prayers written at Jinja no Fukujin have been granted in some way or another, which has earned the shrine a lot of patronage. It was...surprising. And all this happened ever since he took in that wolf? Eventually, when he went to check on her...she appeared before him in her humanoid form, greeting him with a big hug and explaining herself to him. Okay, that was definitely startling for the poor guy. But it turns out Enzeru had a hand in solving a lot of problems in Kairiku, especially with help from some fellow Yokai. Enzeru had decided that she would settle down with Seijin. Together, they vowed to continue looking out for Kairiku and, one day, bring humans and Yokai back together in the open again.

Enzeru doesn't say much on how she and Seijin came to conceive the Werewolf we know today as Zenmei Gekkani, or why her right eye disappeared around the time of his birth. Regardless, she stuck alongside him, helping him find happiness and strength in life...in her feral form, of course, so she looks like a big white dog with an eyepatch and cloak. For a while, little Zenmei only appeared in human form, unaware of his true half-Yokai appearance. But that changed when he was 7 years old, and Enzeru went out that night to quell a rising threat. Zenmei happened to be awake that night, and he saw feral-Enzeru running toward the city. Worried for her, he snuck off after her.

There, Zenmei saw Enzeru assume her humanoid form to fight a frightening monster. All of this was...startling to him. Unfortunately, this monster took notice of the child and threw a punch into him...making some unseen mask fly off his face and reveal his Werewolf form. Shocked, Enzeru rushed in to defend Zenmei from the monster's next attack, taking two mortal stabs through her torso. However, she retaliated with a giant snowball bomb, shattering the monster to pieces. With what strength she had left, Enzeru told Zenmei the truth - that he is a half-Yokai, and that one day he would be expected to become the world's next protector. She couldn't tell him this until he was of the right age to hear it, but because she's slipping away, this was the best time left.

...But before Enzeru could tell Zenmei anything more, the monster's broken head unleashed a last-ditch attack before shutting down completely, blasting a horrendous beam right through the goddess and reducing her to mere snow in a flash.

Zenmei was left heartbroken at the death of his mother, and was even more nervous about this supposed destiny of his without her. Still, through help of his father and another half-Yokai boy named Kimo, Zenmei would grow strong so that he could be the hero that his mother believed he can be. It was just a shame she couldn't be there to witness this.

- As a faywolf, Enzeru could assume either a humanoid form (as seen here) or a feral form that more resembles a real wolf. This form is smaller and more nimble, allowing her to practically dart and dance around incoming attacks to get an opening.

-= ITTOUSHO =-
- A bizarre ribbon-like sword made from her own blue blood. It reaches as long as 12 feet, and is amorphous in form, allowing it to bend and sweep like a ribbon while hitting as hard as steel.
- One technique she likes to use with this is the Infinity Loop, where she swings the ribbon-blade around herself with random pauses to keep the foe guessing where she'll strike.
- The other technique she favors involves iaido - so essentially, a sudden strike that's too fast for the typical naked eye to track. In combination with her snow ki control, she could even deal a hindering cut and even get it sealed before the opponent even realizes it.
- Of course, being a flexible blade means it can be used to grapple as well.

-= NYOIHOSHU EYE =-
- Whatever happened with her right eye, Enzeru found a way to fill the void left. This created a new "eye" made of the power of subspace.
- It acts as an energy reserve, which she can draw from if she runs low. It also lets her open portals known as Subspace Slips, a technique that her son Zenmei would inherit.

-= SOUL SIGIL =-
- Like Zenmei, she can generate a sigil behind her back that acts as a levitation enabler and a ki-shooting weapon.
- Enzeru's Soul Sigil seems to resemble eight peacock feathers around a swirling heart shape.

-= Force: ODAYAKANA-FUYU, Winter's Calm =-
- Enzeru's element of choice is cold, using snow and chilling auras to slow down hostiles. This extends furthest with her Force: Odayakana-Fuyu, which uses the slowing effect of cold in various levels.
- This can make incoming attacks slow down, of course. But it can also chill and de-energize enemies to make them stop fighting sooner.
- It can be used supportively, too - by calming someone's nerves with its effect, that someone can cast off distractions and enhance their focus, becoming more reactive to attacks and surroundings.

- Technically, the Fukujin deities will use either Kisshoten or Fukurokuju. But of course, for this story, they're both in, and round the number of lucky gods to eight. Trust me, 8 will be an important number in Ninmenjushin.
- Peacocks are often symbols of joy and protection. So I just had to give her hood a peacock feather. In fact, they're considered good luck charms in India, where the goddess Kisshoten originally came from.
- In Japanese lore, wolves are considered emissaries of winter harvest deities. Hence, Enzeru gets snow powers.
- That hood has an opening slit in the back for her mane to hang out.
- Just like with Zenmei's attire, Enzeru's entire outfit is crafted from her own Stardust, the mystical component of all matter, and the primary component of gods. Yes, that includes the form-fitting pink cloths over her breasts. They stay on because they're technically made of her body.
- I had to justify why Enzeru couldn't tell Zenmei everything when the time came, hence the last-ditch killing move by that Akumashi. But don't worry, she still has a strong impact on the story afterward.
