Description
If you've any thoughts on this at all, please share them. This has never bothered me until recently.
Articuno and Moltres's locations, I can understand. These are naturally-hewn areas (mountains and southern islands).
Zapdos's, though...um, what?
The Pokédex talks about how its beating wings summon thunderstorms and all, right? You'd think that Zapdos would be hanging around a mountaintop or something, from that description.
So why is this legendary Pokémon, one that has been revered in ancient times, sitting in an old power plant?
Did...Did I miss something?
Has that plant been around since the beginning of time or what is this I don't even?
Scene based on Pokémon Yellow.

Perhaps the Reason it's in the Power Plant is cause the He's been in that Spot even before the Power Plant was built. So I guess there used to be something there like a Temple or Shrine? But Due to a Catastrophe or Natural Disater it was reduced to Rubble and the Power Plant was Built on-top of these Ruins

Eh, who knows at this point...
Kanto wasn't exactly known for having any kind of deep history, unlike its sister Johto.

Zapdos is an Electric Type. It's attracted to electricity

Still, an old man-made power plant seems too modernized for a Pokémon that's supposedly been around since ancient times.

well
I think this is the reason
Zapdos are a real territorial pokemon
so maybe, and I said maybe
before that humans build that power plant
that place used to be the home of zapdos
and he doesnt want to leave and that why
is that plant abandoned too
well thats my idea

that realy is weird at first once you think about it but try thinking this... mabye he was roosting there because there was still alot of power in the plant still, that makes zapdos able to recharge some energy, even legendaries need rest...but still that is a bit
*^&%ing bazzare.

i think it is strange how all of the legendary birds are indoors (minus moltres from fr/lg)
if they so big ho did they fly through those tiny doors and cave holes?

I tend to wonder about this as well. XD. But maybe that's just where Zapdos sleeps, and he's like "GYAAAAAOOO!" because you woke him up XD

Maybe it like to be somewhere where people don't visit much like an abandoned power plant. And not to mention, its an ol' place to generate electricity. At least he's found by the entrance when it was re-runned in GSC/HGSS.

Pfffft, not in Pokeworld. It only ever rains in desigignated areas and only when you're walking around there.

Maybe Zapdos was there to siphon energy from that plant or something. I never understood why, but I' glad it was the prize at the end of the tunnel.
I wouldn't have gone if I had to get past all those Voltorbs and Electrodes for nothing!

I guess when there's no thunderstorms out, Zapdos just... needs another source of electricity to keep himself comfortable and/or charged, maybe?
Like others said, pretty cool touch with the colouration there.

What about moltres in RBY?
Moltres was just hanging around somewhere on the victory road, waiting for you.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
UMSAuthorLava In reply to CharryEX [2010-05-13 23:38:08 +0000 UTC]
Victory Road makes sense, remotely.
It's this rough, rugged cavern that you have to brave through to reach Indigo Plateau, and Moltres is like what Suicune is to Pokémon Crystal.
Not to mention Moltres moves around way too much. First Victory Road, then Mt. Ember, and now Mt. Silver!

I could understand, it's probably resting there from it's recent flight. Zapdos is more along the lines of Latios and Latias, origionally.

The energy from the power plant drew it in, like a moth to a flame or an unwilling vegetarian to a double cheeseburger. ...Sounds plausible enough to me, anyway...

Funny thing, actually...
When I first played Pokémon Yellow, and found Zapdos, I thought it was some lost bird Pokémon, given the sprite and all.
So I decide to walk up and talk to it and...
"Gyaaao!"
Wild ZAPDOS appeared!
That...startled me.
