Description
My take on an often requested character. Always dug shots of him cooking off with his eyebeam so just went with that. Not overthinking it lol. Hope you enjoy!Related content

Saw a booth at Wonder Con selling a lot of your prints. This one, Nova, maybe a few others. Was that you? Saturday?

I heard once that one explanation for Scott's laser beam is that it was energy from another dimension. Here that explanation looks really sound. It really looks supernatural and extra-dimensional.

That explanation ended up debunked a few years later short version his optic blasts operate in a way similar to Superman's heat vision in the sense that he is able to absorb sunlight (and other energy sources) and redirect that energy into his optic blasts.

Ok then. To be honest, I haven't read many comics, and I'm far from caught up with DC and Marvel news. Thanks for straightening this all out. Then (and this will be my new theory here) if you think about it Scott is very similar to kryptonians.
When Superman absorbs the sun, it gives him strength, speed, nigh-invulnerability, and other such things, which is perhaps why he can choose when to use his heat vision. for Cyclops, that energy input seems directly focused though his eyes, and not through all the super abilities Superman has. If Scott only has one outlet for his energy as opposed to Superman's multiple outlets, he would be forced to sustain that stream of energy for as long as he gains energy input. As to why it's through his eyes, I think that involves the nature of eyesight. Energy is neither destroyed or created, just utilized in different ways by both supers.

Thanks, and I was just going off a basic law of energy.

Well despite many non expert comic book readers think science and what not does exists in comics yours sounded very convincing.

Thank you. And I will admit, I'm no expert in comics, and while a lot of it defies science (Ghostrider, Dr. Strange, Thor to name a few), not everything defies science. Barry Allen, Batman, and a few others are experts in crime investigation. But yeah, I think that if you want to put real science into the mix, it would have to be convincing.

I always thought that was one of Scott's best lines in the first X-Men movie.
