Description
My old school was either cheap or not very good, because we had very few living breathing models in our drawing classes. I really feel ripped off for having so few opportunities to do life drawing, and for those of you who fancy drawing, I strongly encourage you to do as much life drawing as possible. The drawing is from a little story in my head about my Night Elf Druid OC, Vellisa, who has appeared in a few drawings previously. Vellisa would never be accused of being a great lover of the arts, so itβs with some skepticism when her arm is twisted by a friend to attend some drawing classes in Stormwind.
So drawing class turns out to be a pleasant surprise for Vell, although her drawing skills may need some work!
I really recommend viewing this at the higher resolution size!

Aww, this is cute!
I've only done life drawing twice, both times occurred in the same drawing class I took back in '07. I enjoyed it, and a couple of my drawings were really, really good. But the sad thing is that I've never had a chance since. It would do wonders for my drawing skills. Sigh.

I can't recommend life drawing classes enough, but you can still get by drawing people from photos. With the wealth of resources of the web (and here on DA), there is a wealth of photo resources to draw from.
Not as good as the real thing, but it sure isn't far behind!

Drawing strangers in public can be a nice substitute but I used to get odd looks when I drew people on the train.

Sadly, in this day and age, I won't draw random strangers in public anymore. It's just asking for trouble.

I really like how this turned out I like the coloring and lines you've given them all, along with the shading as well
But I really love the humour into this XD I can see that she came here for other other reasons then art XD
Also I love the gnome there, she looks like she is really suspecting something, and it shows on her expression XD
Again, it's great to see more art form you

I've been experimenting again with some new drawing and colouring techniques so I'm glad you like the drawing!
And yeh, I think the gnome doesn't appreciate good art when she sees it!

Oh I can so totally feel with you on that one. I went on a university course that lasted 4 years about 3D, and I feelt more depressed in overall then inspired by attending to that course.
Sure, it gave me some 3D AutoDesk skills, but atleast 2 years of the course was terrible due to the teacher I mentioned earlier who wanted to exploit the student's materials so he could look good for his bosses. As a example, we heard that one of the student's materials had been stolen without permission, to show up at convention in Europe. No credit....no invite..
He eventually got caught and got fired aswell....
As for the picture.....I dont know, you sure that the Night Elf is there for actually.......drawing? *wink wink*
She seems to have something else on her mind ^^

My school experience was a bit mixed, too. I spent 4 years studying fine arts in university, but we spent sooooo little time actually learning about the fundamental concepts of drawing, design, and media. I guess they expected that we knew all that already, but so many students struggled with the basics.
Still, I did learn a lot in those years, and my teachers really taught me how to think about the 'bigger picture' when it came to art. I just wish we had more opportunities to do things like life drawing! Hmmm, I hope my old teachers don't see what I'm drawing these days, hehe.

Same here! I have a ton of really old drawings from prehistoric times. I put them into a sealed box and put it in storage, but it's overseas now. I wish I could get my hands on them now!

Well I think you need to practice drawing human breasts more, they don't really look right.
I like the clothes of the other characters though
