Description Much thanks and appreciation goes to *Aishitai who drew this. Go check them out !

This is where I'll be keeping the data I know about Rubberta.
This is for reference purposes only!

Rubberta height: 6 ft. (when not stretching)
Powers: lengthening or compacting body (no polymorph), healing/sealing her body, can dissolve small things
Weaknesses: Lack of mass, heat (of course), and EMPs
How far can things be lengthened: Not sure, but going for about 5 times the length, meaning a 2 ft arm could go 10 feet.
Most notable feature: Rubberta is hollow.
Alter ego: Randi Tendere (She's the human and she doesn't stretch.)

Rubberta is not human, but she thinks like a human because a human is controlling her.

Love the shiny look to her suit And, that long shirt and dress combination is not something you see alot with super heroines The placement of that heart on her chest is genius as well So how are Rubberta and Randi related--she seems to have a living brain inside her but, otherwise completely hollow--how does that work?

Yeah, I like the shiny on her suit as well. The artist did a good job of depicting her.

When I was conceiving her, a lot of thought went into her costume. One of the thoughts was that should she find herself falling quickly, she could reach down, pull at the sides of her long skirt, and it would billow out like a parachute. The heart. The heart is a funny story. I was in Hero Machine designing her. I had everything done on her except the logo. So, I was idly clicking through the logos and it was placing them on the body in that area, because, well, that's where they go. Then the heart came up and suddenly everything was perfect (or as perfect as you can get with limited choices).

Randi is a normal, non-stretchyΒ human. No powers at all. When Randi wants to become a superhero, her memories and thought processes get copied over to the mechanical brain inside the stretchy body and then she becomes Rubberta while she sleeps in stasis until Rubberta comes back. The memories copy back and Rubberta goes in stasis while Randi continues her life. So, I like to think of them as the same person even though one is "sleeping" while the one is "at work".

How does she move and stretch while empty? The answer is ... she's not completely empty. She, of course, has the mechanical brain, but coated on the inside are bunches of nanobots controlled by the mechanical brain. The important ones spread their tiny legs apart which pulls the material a little bit which causes the stretch.

Does that answer your question?

Thanks that was a really cool explanation! So did Randi build Rubberta as well? And, does she have a personality of her own? I'd love to see her feature in a story but couldn't find anything in your gallery

Nope. Randi is just a teacher and not a good one at that. No, her friend's boss and her friend built it for her. Rubberta is basically Randi, so she will have Randi's personality.

As for a story about Rubberta ... ... well, I'm working on it. I'm hoping to have a draft of "Rubberta: Origins" by the end of this year. It's one of my goals. That will explain Rubberta's powers and transference and stuff. And hopefully more stories will flow after that.

Great can't wait Randi and Rubberta are a unique team and, can't wait where you're planning to go with them!

Helllo, the heart on that costume looks AWFULLY familiar! My OC Lora Jett just happens to have a costume close to that in design! O_o

Ha! What a coincidence. Indeed, they both have a heart on their chest.

My OC got a heart because I was messing around with HeroMachine and the best logo was the heart one (and the only location it would let me place the logo was on the chest). It seems to have taken on a life of its own after that.

How did Lora get her heart?

I came up with the idea of...(pardon the details) combining my /slight/ elastic fetish and the simple idea of a hot woman no man could resist. See this picture to know why (Heads-up: drawing women is a challenge for me) [link] So if she catches male bad guys, they're too seduced to fight back unless they're prepared for it.

Ah. Interesting. Thank you for the details. Those were exactly what I was looking for. Yeah, Rubberta is not like that at all. Rubberta is kinda lazy with dreams of fame and riches from being a superhero. So, she'll likely start out being a bad superhero until she learns that being a superhero requires hard work. And I do have a love interest in mind, but that's a ways off and she'll have to endure a little longer as an "old maid."

Ha! I just had breakfast between these paragraphs and came back and read the previous paragraph. I sound like a bad fiction writer. XD

And don't worry too much about your drawing skills. You are ahead of me there. You, at least, color yours. The more you practice and try stuff, the better you will get.

One thing I forgot to mention while ago: rubberta's overall color scheme strangely coincides with an early humanoid elastic character that eventually became Lora. I didn't scan the render, though.Β

that is still a nice concept.she 6 foot tall,too?

you don't see many elastic heroines that size.then again, there weren't many elastic women in the first place.

So, Rubberta can't shapeshift?

Uncle-Ben In reply to watergd26 [2011-10-01 20:25:01 +0000 UTC]

Like into a ball or bowl? No. At the moment, she can't meld her skin with her skin without a seam.

... although ... with her repairbots ... I guess it coooooould be possible. It gives me something to think about. However, if she were to make herself into a perfect sphere, she's probably be lopsided as her brain has weight and likes to be in her head.

I see, but couldn't she focus her brain into the middle?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Uncle-Ben In reply to watergd26 [2011-10-01 20:57:22 +0000 UTC]

Okay, think of her like this ...
Most elastic lasses are more like clay in that they are solid material (whatever that material is), Rubberta is like a balloon. What you are seeing in the pictures, is the outer coating of the balloon. Inside she is all air except for her brain, optical sensors, auditory sensors, and vocal outputs (she doesn't have feeling, smelling, or taste senses, I think).

While she is a very flexible and stretchable balloon that can add, remove, and move the air around, I see it as tricky for her to change her body into objects. And as far as moving her brain into the middle of air and bits of herself, that also seems a little tricky.
