Description A first Character Reference Sheet for the proposed comic ‘This Actually Happened’ featuring the main characters (my sister and myself) at different ages and height comparisons from the early years of my life.

A friend of mine, an illustrator/artist from one of the First Nations Tribes of Canada, has been after me literally for years to prepare a proposal for a comic with possible syndication about Native Americans by Native Americans, specifically myself. The characters in the comic itself probably would not have this level of detail. I would not be the artist!

A few notes about the physical appearance of these characters:

- Most obvious physical characteristic, aside from being Indians, is that both show a high degree of Neoteny, keeping child-like physical traits, mostly facial features and slender build, into adulthood. This also gets the male member mistaken for female on a somewhat regular basis.

- Small, ‘Boxy’ Native American feet that makes regular shoes uncomfortable. Will wear sandals or moccasins but prefer to be barefoot. Will wear real shoes only at need.

- Translucent black hair will appear dark grey to light grey depending upon direction and intensity of light. Also picks up auburn highlights easily. Their long hairstyle with deep bangs was more than just traditional for Cherokee but helped to hide the fact that their eyes are about 20% physically larger than normal, just enough to be noticeable, another effect of Neoteny. They also have a lack of body hair including male facial hair, but this is normal for Native Americans and not a product of Neogeny although it does add to their youthful look.

- Very dark black eyes. Pupils discernable only vaguely at very close range. Due to having physically larger than normal eyes, they have excellent night vision but can have trouble with detail blurring at very close range. Neither wears glasses but will often need a magnifier to read small print.

- Long Sleeves/Pants are ‘camouflage’ to appear less ‘redskin’ in public, something that was useful back then in a world not used to Indians. Fairly dark skin tone even for FBI (Full Blooded Indians)

- Very resistant to cold and will wear little or nothing in private. Not bothered by wearing sandals or even being barefoot except in fairly cold weather.

I really like your picture. It's very well done. It would be interesting if you could turn it into a comic.
