Description The Discovery Of Zero

Zero, the greatest human achievement since we gained control over fire. For what human achievement is worth. In the end its value will most likely turn out to be - zero. But don't let that get you down.

Haha, amazing! Have you ever considered publishing a book? Or do you think that your work is supposed to be watched on a screen and not in a book? Do you consider your dA page your digital atelier and therefore sufficient? Or do think that this is as honest as it can get? Is it that any promotion or potentially commercial activity would be against the integrity of your work, for it was exactly due to a lack of 'promotion' that your work found its way into the world in the first place?

Hm!!!

Why don't I hear of you in the same way I hear of other artists? Or is it just a circus of money and power, when an artist's name gets big? Am I maybe just overly subjective and biased with regard to your work?

I don't understand!

Do you have any answer? [insert non-hideous smiley here. the guy who designed the smileys here on dA should be fired]

Oh, and by the way, why wouldn't gaining control over electricity be amongst the greatest human achievements as well? [actually this should have been the main question]

I comfort myself with the thought that I will at least leave some trace behind..

(I know that that isn't a comprehensive answer to all your questions but I'm a bit "off" at the moment and besides you do ask a lot of questions)

How long does that last?

I have no idea, until the after-effects of paracetamol+codeine wear off I guess. Nasty stuff.. Anyway, your right, not all images which look good on screen do so on paper as well, it's a matter of trial-and-error, i.e. having stuff printed, which costs money, which I haven't got. It also costs time, which I haven't got either. I did try out some of those photo book software things but the one I tried were all a disaster, none of them even had a "use this layout for all pages" option. I had a number of my images printed as glossy photos but I wasn't too impressed, I do think some might look alright on semi-shiny book paper (or whatever it's called). I see dA mostly as a backup server with apparently limitless free storage space, in an aesthetic sense dA doesn't even come close to what I would imagine a gallery should look like. Oh wait, you wrote "atelier", yes, atelier probably. You're right, nothing beats a lack of promotion!

I told you I go through life as an "autistic" person, which makes me fundamentally uninterested in anything that could be labeled "social", at least group-social and society-social that is, I can be very sociable towards individuals I like, like Claudia who is from the trailer camp and is high all the time, but it's an enjoyable kind of high (because she's a fundamentally enjoyable person), not an annoying one. But such individuals are an exception and there's still a (comfortable) distance in my socializing with them. So no, I'm basically not interested at all in acquiring a place amongst whoever or whatever. I would like to be famous after I die! Or produce something that sells great, make a few public appearances, cash in on the whole thing and then vanish forever - the J.D. Salinger approach! But before all that I need to learn to speak Russian fluently first!

Fire gave "us" humans an unprecedented control over our physical environment, while zero gave us an unprecedented control over our observations and our ability to record them. Electricity was more like Fire 2.0 I think.

Well, glad you replied! Despite you saying twice that you were a bit "off", I couldn't help but think that my comments were annoying or something! [in which case I'd immediately stop writing]

Yes, I know, printing digital stuff can really turn out disappointing! And yes, I am familiar with the "autistic" lifestyle/mindset - unfortunately, I must say.

But wow, if the medication affects you badly and you keep on using it, are you then chronically ill or what? And trailer camp? That was too random for me. Isn't always being high messed up? I have a good friend who is always high too and I'm quite worried about her! She used to be full of ideas, emotions, and creativity - but ever since she started doing drugs, she practically got 'off', a chronic kind of off...

So you're surviving on your own? Are you literally completely withdrawn - without even having someone who helps and supports you - and if so, how on earth do you manage to keep on going? What do you build upon? You have your art, sure, amazing art, but is that enough? What else is it that gives you hope, if not people and communities? How about family, do you keep in touch with them? Or did I misinterpret you and you dó have a healthy amount of individual relationships? [Sorry, those are a bunch of questions, but I'm just trying to show where my confusion lies, hóping you'll be willing to clear that up]

Oh, and to come back to your previous comment: I meant that I don't consider music, when played from a sheet, art. You have no significant freedom as a classical musician to be called an artist, but that's just my opinion. But what meaningful conclusion[s] could we draw from your revolutionary fact, if it were true? And allow me to say something very simple: didn't we exploit simply because we could? Hadn't we just become powerful enough to commit those crimes? In other words, nothing had 'snapped', we, being violent as we are, had just found the 'right' means and used them to their full horrific extent?

I know!! I ask a lot! But you are so clear minded, how can I not? Pleeeeease don't mind? Pleeease? [Please?]
