Actually, in theory (as good as theory gets when dealing with fictional creatures)Β flamethrowers would make excellent anti-zombie weapons. The decay of the flesh creates highly flammable methane pockets and dries out the muscle that would otherwise have too high a water content to burn easily. In that state, the muscles would disintegrate quickly. The flamethrower eliminates the need for headshots, can be wielded easily with no training, and can destroy a small cluster of zombies in a single burst.
