Description
Ever since I became an "American Dad" fan, people have been telling me that I've got to put Hayley underwater. It took me a while to decide on what she should be doing there, but then I remembered Fresh2o [link] , a British non-profit organization dedicated to purifying the world's dirty fresh water sources. They drum up celebrity support by photographing big-name contributors like Keira Knightley and Kelly Brook underwater (which kinda sends a mixed message, if you think about it - I wouldn't want to drink water that people have been swimming in), and Hayley seems like she'd fit right in. Klaus, on the other hand, is a little more apathetic.Related content

Good that you think up all these scenarios for them to get dunked in, rather than just dropping them in any old pool. Shows that you care about the art, man.
Sweey pic.

Sounds like something he'd say... I wonder what Roger would say.

Of course, now you rarely ever see Hayley anymore, because she's a girl.

I think the reason Hayley's been used less frequently is because her extreme liberal views were more relevant at a time when we were locked in the ultra-conservative Bush administration. They served as a counterpoint to what was going on in the world, and made Hayley out to be a lone voice of reason, of a sort. Now that the Democrats are back in the White House again, there's not much left for her to say.

Hayley wasn't meant to be "reason," though, she was meant to be as crazy as Stan only in the opposite direction. But both of them have mellowed over time.

Good point. I think she thinks she's the voice of reason, though, even when it's apparent that she's just as flawed as anyone else on the show. And to me, that's what makes her an endearing character.
I've seen more early episodes than later ones, though, so how much her character has mellowed out recently isn't readily apparent to me. The only recent episodes I've seen are "The One That Got Away" and "The Return of the Bling" - and the former episode is all about Roger, so everyone gets pushed into the background there and I guess it's not a good yardstick for Hayley's character. In the latter one, though, you're right, she doesn't really exhibit much of the liberal extremism she's known for.

That and Seth and/or the writers don't know how to write episodes for teenage girls, it works on Meg.

Very good stuff - nice to see, too, that we Brits still manage to inspire in ways other than Benny Hill-based scenes

But it was pretty funny.

Unfortunately, it's on hiatus right now while FOX uses its time slot for "Sons of Tuscon" (a.k.a. "Dysfunctional Family Sitcom #644"), but it'll be back in the fall. Or whenever "Sons of Tuscon" gets cancelled, whichever comes first.

Well, that was quick. Fox just announced they're canceling Sons of Tuscon after only four episodes. American Dad will be back next week.
