He's a bit of an impulsive brat, but he means well.

NAME: "Ruk" (Heoruk, but he prefers the sound of his nickname.)

SPECIES: Kyzahndi ("K(eye)-zan-dee"). Carnivorous aliens who are in their first stages of moving off their home planet, living out in giant city-ships, and exploring the galaxy. They call their home world "Leyuatha" ("Lay-oo-aw-tha"). The city-ship Ruk belongs to is called "Tal'vunn", and some joke that it's Leyuatha's third moon. You can't actually see it from the planet's surface, but it has been steadily growing and developing over decades, and it's one of the largest ones yet.

PROFESSION: Bounty-hunter

LIKES: Fighting, eating, sleeping, hunting, arguing, challenging himself, stupid pranks, acting in accordance with his conscience...

DISLIKES: Losing, eating, his own stupidity (he can be pretty hard on himself when he screws up), annoying training peers, being/feeling shown up, realizing how cruel he can be (his conscience never fails to point it out)...

PERSONALITY:

+Had a nasty chip on his shoulder when he was younger. Still does, but to a lesser extent. He's not very patient (especially with himself) or wise (in general), but at least he's aware of it, and he's striving to improve.

+Has a fairly deep compassionate streak. This may seem to conflict with that first note, but it's actually a huge part of it. (More on that under the Background section.) Ruk likes making people nervous - he's good at it. But he gets a thrill from the idea of actually being trusted (especially by potential prey) and being worthy of that trust.

+As much as a jerk as he can sometimes be to those he perceives as prey, it's very easy for Ruk to feel protective. He likes being big, scary, and powerful, but he'd rather be a guardian than a bully.

ABILITIES:

+Ruk excels in tracking, fighting, and thinking on his feet. He sucks at doing research about a place ahead of time, though.

+As a Kyzahndi, Ruk typically doesn't chew - opting to swallow his prey whole. His teeth are more for fighting, speaking, and territorial displays.

+Ruk is a decent fighter, dexterous enough to wield a sword/ax/knife in each of his four hands. While his skill is still improving, Ruk's real power in a fight comes from his sheer ferocity.

+Some Kyzahndi cultures have developed potions to counter and stall their acids so they can hold live prey safely in their stomachs for a limited time. They still have to swallow air for their prey to breathe (and the prey will remind them by squirming periodically when the air gets too thin). It's a favored smuggling technique and features in some traditional rituals. Some Kyzahndi even use it for their friends or lovers for fun (if said friends and/or lovers trust them that far). Ruk has heard of a more permanent solution; a questionable procedure that can give his body a separate, adaptable chamber with life-support functions for whoever is inside (including cycling air for prey that need to breathe). He's saving up for it, but in the meantime, he's also trying to learn how to brew that potion, himself.

BACKGROUND:

+Ruk's growth was a bit stunted in his youth. (He's still growing - his kind never really stop, they just slow down. The oldest, most well-fed ones are around 30ft tall, but the bigger they get, the more food they need to maintain so much mass. Starvation will gradually cause them to shrink, but they can always grow again if they get enough food.) From a young age, he was afflicted with a sense of compassion that clashed with his dietary requirements. His folk evolved as strict carnivores with a preference for swallowing prey alive, and Ruk had a strong love/hate relationship with the feeling of living prey squirming (and dying) in his belly. He tried to live off of dried, already-dead meat while keeping his live food as secret pets, devoting a lot of time and effort to helping them relax and trust him. His elders found out, though, and force-fed him those pets, which broke Ruk's heart. He became depressed and angry and took out his rage on his peers in the training pits, gaining a reputation as a savage fighter despite his shorter, thinner stature. Everyone thought he was just bitter about being the smallest in his training group.

+He has had a "secret hide-out" underneath an abandoned stadium-in-progress on Tal'vunn ever since he was young. Funding for finishing the damn thing keeps failing to go through, so it's just kind of there and nobody really pays it any mind unless they're an impulsive, curious brat like him. He doesn't go there much anymore, but it used to be his favorite place to hide, recover after training, make plans, and brood.
