Description
The G1 toy and show had Vortex basically the same colors- gray, teal, and purple, but it looks to me like High Moon Studios went only by this one comic style picture to decide the in-game colors for him (pics attached).Like the other FOC Combaticons, I painted Vortex here with more of a G1 color scheme, but keeping the wear, purple lights, and a few other details from his FoC look.
You can see the larger articulated hand I gave him in his leg in robot mode, but its a small sacrifice to make Bruticus look better.
I made the new hand removable (on a ball joint) too as seen in the 3rd pic.
This one is actually a pretty cool little figure. Maybe about as decent as Brawl. Both have at least one big flaw though. Where Brawl is to back heavy from kibble and lacks decent shoulder articulation, Vortex has his blade permanently attached in an awkward place in bot mode.
I think the only good figure of the set really is Blast Off, although even he has the thin legs like Shockwave's toy.

I actually had this guy when he was redone for the Robot in Disguise show, I surprised they finally found a cooler and more appropriate place for his rotor blade.

When I saw the official figure for this character I wasn't impressed at all. Not only did they seem to have not even looked at the in-game colour scheme, but they had completely ignored the original G1 scheme too. You've definitely fixed a lot of the issues I had with it.
Out of the 5 designs, I think this one is my least favourite. It's a good design, and I actually think it's a pretty cool robot. But having grown up with the original character design (I even still own one) this was just TOO different.
And I agree with Dr Oblivian, I can't wait to see what you've done with the combined form.

A couple of things I forgot to mention. Does the figure have the "jet" mode that the in-game design has? And why did they change him into a sword-master? Including the propellers he has THREE!! The original character was tooled up with guns (ironically more than the munitions expert Swindle)?

Thanks! No jet mode unless you count the swords attached to the sides unfortunately. I agree about the swords but they do have gun barrels on them too and can be held as guns.
