Description
I always loved my Cybertron Downshift figure, but didnt care for the show or the character. Wasn't a fan of the new character with Wheeljack's head.Ever since I first saw Lockdown, Downshift reminded me of him, so I finally went ahead and made the changes to turn him into a classics 1980's style version of Lockdown.
Features-
Head with look mixed from all 3 previous figures, mixed with the G1 standard
Hook claw weapon/tool with articulated handle
Alt mode spring loaded frontal claw with "stasis-lockdown" stun blaster
All accessories store on the alt mode for a sort of decked out "mech-tech" mode
Modified high-powered EMP shotgun (with engine on it as homage to Animated)
Silenced mid to long range multi-function null rifle
Rifle and shotgun can be mounted on shoulders

Awesome job on this. I can't say I know either of the characters (the dreaded Beast-Wars was always my series), but the color scheme and versatility are awesome.
So I'm gonna throw this out here just because for a moment, this figure brought up the idea: If you have ever watched Supernatural, have you ever thought of doing a custom transformer fig based on Dean's Impala? I have to say It would be pretty unique and bad-ass.

No I planned to start watching it but then seeing a million pictures of the 2 main guys having gay sex and making out here on deviantart's front page kind of made me less interested. If I hadn't already seen the Thor movie, I would have been less inclined to watch it too after all that same type of stuff here at DA with Thor and Loki.

Yeah... The Yaoi fans do tend to latch onto EVERYTHING. Its actually pretty good, especially in the early seasons (the late ones - like most things - tend to get a little contrived when they run out off big bads to fight) And the 67 Impala is a beauty.
On another note what type of paints do you use (swear I've asked that before)? I've noticed that especially with metalics it's hard to hide brush-strokes and to get the right sheen. I used a wax based paint now to overcome this, but it wont wash out of brushes.

Different paints for different things such as broad surfaces or just little details, but i use citadel, testors model masters, and tamiya.

I do a lot of steampunk work, and find that Rub-n-Buff is a pretty good finish

As long as he keeps his hook, I'm ok with it

Dig it. Love this mold and the modified Red Alert head you gave him. You can give him waist articulation too by shaving down the two plastic "rails" underneath his chest that line it up with the waist in transformation. They're not needed and make him have a bunch more character. Good job bud.

Well done! I must say I never thought of this but wish I did, And btw Downshift was intended to be Wheeljack but they couldn'tΒ secure the name/trademark

Thanks.
Well I guess that's okay since the body didn't look anything like Wheeljack anyway.

Yeah I thought the figure looked like Wheeljack, but only because it had a Wheeljack head. Otherwise, totally different body proportions, colors, and general type of car.
But I didn't watch the show so he was just a pretty cool figure with an out of place Wheeljack head to me.

Looks pretty good.
That's a 1970s-era car, btw.

Yeah I know its more 70s-ish, but they were still around in the 80s when G1 happened... Its not a specific model car and they did still make cars like this in the 80s too.

Come to think of it, the front could charitably be 80s-ish, I guess.
