I put a lot of care and patience into repainting my WFC Optimus and Megatron, but I think I put the most into Soundwave here.Just a paint job going by game screens to get him as screen accurate as possible.
The toy itself is not quite accurate in either mode so I had to pick and choose what parts to color what colors, depending on what looked best in both modes.
Soundwave got the works- Ink wash, dry brush, different color shades, and every part is painted and sealed.
I tried to configure him into a boom box mode like in the game too.

Do you have, like, a step by step process on how you paint these things? Or at least what things you used and stuff?
I want to paint my War for Cybertron Soundwave game accurate too and it's my first time doing so.

This guy I just sprayed in Krylon fusion blue from Wal-mart, having some parts masked off of course, then hand painted the rest. I started with a couple of thin coats of black over the parts I would paint another color, and dry brushed most of the silver parts for the worn metal look.
To finish it off I painted in some wear effects and dry brushed edge wear.
The purple glow effects were done using cheap wal-mart acrylics. I only use them for small details in recesses because they aren't as scratch proof as testors or even fusion, but some of those metallics are so purdy.
Jin Saotome has about 46,285 online tutorials on how to not only paint, but become a master toy maker altogether. I learned most of what I know reading about 35% of those (years ago) so I'd assume anyone who reads them all has only experience and practice between them and epic customs.

just bought this guy yesterday im gonna make him more in-game like, not as great as this though i only use paint markers and craft paints XP

Oh its okay.
Just cheap metallic purple acrylic from Wal-mart with mixed shades using metallic black and silver with it. Those acrylics are great for recessed areas that won't be easily scratched. Clear coat over the whole thing protects the paint pretty well though. The purple glows were the only acrylics I used.

Its a bar I plan to set for myself from now on. I'm a very impatient person by nature but I'm really starting to see that patience can make those little differences that take a custom up a level.

Awesome job mate. The way you've painted it looks just like the game. All the nicks and scratches and worn paint look great. The dry brushing on the steel like sections really sell it.
