Okay. it's June. My contract says I can share this now. xD
THIIISSS...is the piece in the renowned Anime Angels art book put together by *brucekun ~!
He just got in more copies so feel free to order them - they turned out SO, so gorgeous!

Got to sign many books this past weekend, it really was a treat. Not to mention got a free meal out of it. :]
If I'm recalling correctly...this one took me about 15 hours. It's...escaping me since the piece was actually finished around new year's. But yeah.
Fun stuff. Uni mermaid angel thing...ftw.

...ok, so obviously, this is great. But, as much as it pains me to say it, it feels like something's missing. Mayhaps some water? I'm not sure, it just doesn't feel believable to me that she's underwater. Something aside from the bubbles, to really make it feel like this is underwater, would possibly do well. I really don't want to criticize, because this is beautiful, and I can't even draw a straight line, so I don't think I deserve to talk, but still, just a thought.

Hmm, I'm not sure quite how to phrase this, but I'll give it a go, anyway. After looking close at it, I do find it believable that the scene is underwater, as the background is well drawn to establish that fact, and the items in the foreground further drive it home. However...the angelfish herself feels, how to say it, "tacked" on. While everything else is beautiful and each little detail to carefully handled, it feels as if she is a bit too outstanding. Mayhaps a tint of blue over her, or something else I'm no unexperienced to know of, but something to really put her in the picture. Otherwise, it looks too much (to me, anyway) like she was put in to an already existing image, as if she and the rest of the picture, despite clearly being meant for the same purpose, were meant to be seperate entities. Again, I'm not one who should be critiquing the work of someone far superior to myself, and I certainly don't claim to know what makes for good artwork, but this is just what I find in this picture. Of course, I could just be overanalyzing it.
