OK well 80% of the time I'm playing tanks with about 20mm of armor and see a T-54 they still spam that 2 key because clearly they need 300+ pen to deal with a sheet of paper...

Not all 54's spam gold like its on sale, but its one of those tanks where if its not spamming it, I'm surprised.

But HEAT only decrease your damage so badly, i hate using it. I usually shoot AP first, to make sure its still penetrable or not. If not, i simply switch to HEAT. I cant take the risk of decreasing the alpha damage and money.

HEAT is not a High explosive, its explode as soon as it tpuch a part of the tank and launch a penetrator whose smaller iside the tank, the explosion dont deal damage, but the penetrator does.

Heat does the same damage as standard, but congrats on being one of the few people who doesn't empty their pockets at everything they see while driving the T-54. I make a strong effort not to use heat at all but... Some tanks I have to have a few rounds of it. I rarely use it (but when I do its usually just at people who were pissing me off mostly arty)

Heat is a "Shaped charge" ammunition that has a cone of (usually copper) surrounded by explosives. When it hits a surface the explosives detonate and instantly melt the copper cone into a jet of supper heated metal that has very good penetration qualities againced flat armor. And once it pens it tends to leave a really bad mess inside the tank that was hit by it, not to mention that IRL heat rounds also tend to burn crew members alive if it hits the crew compartment...

Im too lazy to use HEAT. Keep that in mind that HEAT have smaller diameter than the gun caliberand does not spread sharpnel. So it does less damage.

Mmm... That's Apcr and Sabot your thinking of, but then again heat darts... Wot doesn't model that though, I've heard rumors about blitz gold rounds having 15% less damage though

Thats true, every single premmo have 15% less damage. So if you want to finish off somebody, you must consider using Premmo but only 1-50 HP left or one shot but have higher chance of bouncing.
