Last to Know by Three Days Grace

After that retirement talk with Dr. D, I had sought out to solve my other problems, hoping to at least figure those out. Ever since the reunion my world, my whole life has been turned upside down. I felt like I was drowning in an endless sea of confusion, anger, and maybe even regret. Everything was just so messed up like a cluttered room whose bed I seek comfort and final rest. The bed I could not find under the mess that was left behind by a certain redhead.

She was like a pest to me, always and constantly on my mind. I couldn't get her out of my head and it was driving me crazy! And when I say I couldn't get her out of my head I mean that I couldn't stop thinking about our fight, nothing more, nothing less you dunderheads.

There was nothing else I could think about but that stupid fight over one stupid kiss. Seriously! It was just a kiss! Why couldn't she just accept my apology after I realized what I had done? Why did she have to make a big deal out of it? It's not like I had made out with her! Although that does sound- ugh! Shut up Shego!

I sighed. Ever since I left Team Go I wanted to make my life the way I wanted to be. To be able to do anything I wanted at anytime without having to worry about saving someone or keeping a good example for everyone because of the constant media. But this wasn't what I had in mind.

Even though I knew that the odds were against me, I still took the plunge. It might have not been the greatest strategy, but I still had to try. Besides, four days had gone by since I last seen Kimmie, four days I gave her, gave us some time to cool off and think. And I especially needed that time.

The a/c was on full blast in my car, but I could still feel the blazing rays of the sun that penetrated through the windows. I usually didn't mind summer, but today was ridiculously hot!

To occupy my restless hands, they tapped constantly on the wheel, finding it hard for the first time to drown in MC Honey's music that thumped from the speakers. My eyes kept glancing at my watch, minutes ticking by slower than a snail, pure torture. I felt like I was waiting an eternity and mentally scolded myself for coming too early. Minutes dragged on by. And I waited and waited until it was finally time.

I watched the crowd of students carefully as they poured out from the campus, heading to their cars or meeting up with friends before walking. But I didn't see her yet. I sat in my car for a while, the fidgeting growing worse when the students became less and less. And just when I was about to give up, I finally saw her emerge.

She was alone, the perfect opportunity for me to talk to her, that is if she listens. Shutting the engine and a/c off, I took a deep breath and nodded confidently to myself.

"Let's get this over with."

I slipped out of my car and hurried across the street to where she was texting on her phone by the gate. I slowed my pace as I got closer, not wanting to startle the hero in case she might slip into instinct and attack me. And then, she finally looked up from her phone. I saw her eyes widen slightly at me before slipping into a glare as she shifted slightly as if preparing to attack.

"What do you want, Shego?" she asked, the hostility dripping heavily from her words. "Are you here to attack my school? Because that would be really low for you."

I tried not to seem surprised by her tone. Maybe the four day cool off didn't work out as planned.

"I just wanted to talk to you," I told her honestly.

She crossed her arms with a 'I don't believe you' look. "If this is about...that, then you shouldn't bother wasting your breath. I still don't forgive you."

She turned on her heel and began walking back to the school, but I quickly reached out and grabbed her wrist.

"Kimmie, wait!"

"Wait for what?" she spat, turning back to me and swiping her arm free. "For you to say: 'I don't really say this to people, but sorry that I forced that kiss on you?' Don't expect me to forgive you like that, Shego. Something like that can't be so easily forgiven and forgotten."

I held back a growl, but my rising impatience and temper didn't help. "Why can't you just listen to what I have to say for once?!"

She took a step back at my sudden outburst and I could see her tensing under a careful eye. Damn it. Nothing was going as planned. I sighed, wiping the sweat from my forehead and clenched my jaw, glaring at the ground.

"Look...I know that I crossed the line that night," I started, feeling heat rise up on my cheeks. It's the sun...it's the heat, nothing else. "I was a jerk, I wrong."

She didn't say anything in reply and I forced myself to look at her, ignoring the knots my stomach was forming. It was probably one of the most hardest things I've ever done in my life. I had to look my enemy in the eye and apologize. Me, Shego, apologizing to a hero.

"I know you'll still probably hate me no matter what, but I-"

"Sorry if I kept you waiting," a young man interrupted as he approached us from the school.

What the hell? Can't this guy see we're talking?!

The brown haired man shifted his attention from a blushing Kimmie to me and smiled warmly. His soft eyes seemed to sparkle with friendliness that made me want to barf.

"Hi, are you Kim's friend?"

I glared at him for interrupting us, but he his annoying friendly aura couldn't be penetrated. I looked over to Kimmie, but she was avoiding my gaze, a light blush was on her cheeks as she held the man's hand. What was she blushing about? He stuck out his hand to me, and I only stared as he introduced himself.

"I'm Daniel, Kim's boyfriend."
