I stared in disbelief at the woman before me. The raven long hair that was graying, and the wrinkles that had increased more since the last time I had seen her. My mom.

"Mom...?" I asked.

She smiled at me and crossed her arms. "No, I'm just a random old lady passing through," she said, and I just blinked just her sarcasm, still shocked. "Of course it's me, Gabby!"

"Wha...you..." I looked about me and saw my brothers giving me shy smiles.

I gripped my head and paced again, trying to process what was going on. I could be dreaming. Maybe this isn't real. Yeah, maybe. Maybe if I just crawl back into my bed I'll wake up and they won't be here!

"Gabby, honey," my mom said gently, pulling me out of my confused thoughts. I looked at her as she came towards me and took my hands away from my hair and held them. "How are you?"

I was about to say confused, but I shook my head. "Don't mom," I said, and she looked a little taken aback and I sighed. "Don't start that. Just... Tell me why you're here."

"We wanted-" Hego jumped in and I glared at him.

"Are you mom?" I asked.

He gulped and turned slightly red. "No..."

"Okay then!" I said, and he sank into the couch next to Mego and was given a coco moo by Dr. D.

"Don't worry, she's just not in the mood because she's not a morning person," my blue employer whispered.

I growled. "I heard that Dr. D!"

He yelped, almost dropping the tray, but my mom touched my cheek and brought my attention back to her. "Why don't we have a seat and a glass of coco moo."

I formed my lips in a thin line as I agreed. I sat on one of the empty chairs since my brothers occupied the couch, and my mom sat across from me. She gave me another gentle smile but I could only frown back. I didn't like the situation I was being placed in. Every year my family always tried to find me. Some were successes, and some were not. I had desperately tried to cover my whereabouts from them, but having brothers as heroes and being a villain with a lot of news buzzing about you didn't actually make the job any easier. I knew what she was going to ask me, because she always asked me when she found me.

When she opened here mouth, I had to cut her off before she began. "Don't tell me it's about...that again."

"Gab," she said, trying to take my hand again, but I used them to hold on the edges of my seat instead. She sighed and I felt my frown increase. "Your family misses you, Gabby."

"Ugh!" I groaned, abruptly getting up from my seat and pulling at my hair again. "Here we go again!"

"Shego, at least try to her hear out!" Hego insisted, but I spun around and glared at him.

"Don't you think I've been doing that for years?" I said, and he frowned.

"See!" Mego said, gesturing to me. "I told you it would never work! She always refuses! What's point in asking her anyways? Let's just go home. I'm wasting my precious life just sitting here."

My nose flared and with a swift move before he could even react, I had him by his collar pulled close to my face. Terror was in his eyes as I glared into them, and I heard his breathing quicken. My family were shocked at my action, but I didn't care.

"Well you inconsiderate punk, you didn't have to come here anyways! I didn't want to see your purple self in my life again! So why in the world would you want to show up here? Have you got any common sense left in you? Oh wait, you never had any!"

His eyes widened before they glared back. "Inconsiderate punk'? I think you got it backwards sis! You're the one whose been thinking and acting like this for years! You're the one who never showed up to our family reunions, never came to mom or dad's birthdays, matter of fact, anyone's! You've just been here your whole life being a criminal!"

"That's enough you two!" our mom demanded.

I glared deep into my older brother's eyes as he glared back before I threw him back onto the couch. Without another word to my family, I strode out of the room.

I slammed my bedroom door behind me and slid down to the floor with a sigh. Why couldn't my family just leave me alone? I chose this life for a reason. I wanted a new one where I could be me, do what I wanted, be who I wanted! But they just want to keep coming to me, dragging my past back with them! Why can't they just understand that I wanted to be left alone?

Suddenly there was the sound of something brushing against the carpet of my room, and I looked down beside me. An envelope had been pushed under my door addressed to me. I sighed and picked it up, tearing it open.

The first piece of paper that I had pulled out was the location of the home I grew up in, and I knew automatically that was where my family was going to have the reunion. I pulled out the other piece of paper and unfolded it. It was a letter.

Dear Gabby,

I know that you're thinking about burning this letter, but please don't. I know that you don't like being with your brothers and going to the family reunion, but consider going this time. Your family misses you. Your father especially. I know you and your father walk on thin ice, but you must see him. I didn't get to tell you this, but he has been sick these past few days.

My heart had literally skipped a beat as I read that last part. It was true that my father and I didn't get along very well, but the thought of him being sick especially at an old age had somehow gotten to me.

He never admits it, but I know he wants to see you. We all do. Even though you've...taken the path you've chosen as a life, we all still care about you and miss you.

The other piece of paper is where the party will be held at if you want to come.

Please, Gabrielle, consider going to the family reunion this time.
