Volanx (voe-lane-x)

The Volanx is a diverse species in matter of colors. They can be practically any color and there are no color limitations. Their scarves are as equally colorful and can have just about any pattern imaginable on them.

The "scarf" they wear is actually not a scarf. It is a living creature that just resembles and acts as such. Their "scarf" has a mind of its own, and uses the finger-like appendages to grab things etc. The use of these creatures is essential to the Volanx since they hardly ever use their own front limbs (unless threatened) so their arms are weak and the "scarf" makes up for the lack of use.
The scarf can also be used to swing, hang, pull etc. They can also live without their "scarf" but usually prefer not to.

The Volanx have three sets of pads on their feet. They help soften the impact when hopping and give them a silent step.

Their horns are mostly used for show for mating but can also be used in a fight or when threatened.

Their eyes are one solid color with no pupil. They can also see fairly well in the dark, but they tend to stay away from bright lights.

They have generally three hair types: Spikey, Curly and Straight, but each Volanx can style their hair in any way they desire.

The Volanx do have sharp claws on their hands which can be used for scratching or digging. There are no pads on their hands which is the main reason they aren't used for transportation.

Horn and hair types can be mixed and matched

Their habitats can be found in almost any climate, but they tend to like mountainous or rocky terrain where they can find or build burrows/small caves in the rock.

Aside from the "scarf" that all Volanx wear, some choose to decorate themselves with pretty objects they find.

The Volanx are hermaphrodites and when two decide to mate, they decide which one will carry the children which are born in litters and are live-birth.

Volanx are roughly the size of an average house cat. They are 9-10 in. in height and 17-18 in. from head to bottom (not including tail). Their tails are almost as long as their body. They weigh around 8-10 lbs.

Volanx are omnivores that eat large bugs, small animals (like fish, mice) and also berries, grass and tree bark. They also need plenty of water.

The average Volanx will live from 25-30 yrs. The babies and adolescents are called Kits, and they reach adulthood at 2 yrs of age. Volanx can tell when their life is drawing to a close and will leave the home nest/burrow to pass on in solitary.
