Description
EnglishThis scene will be seen next to the one I'm working on. "NanoFoX - bedroom 3D Render - WIP " is part of the content that will be seen on one of the screens of the room.
In this scene I still have to add other elements, but what is missing for this is very little, the purpose of this video that I show you is only to show you the different steps that this render takes.
This video is 900x564 pixels, but these had done at 2000x1250 (I was not going to put a flash to that dimension because they would not be able to enjoy it, at least not from this site).
Technical data:
Models made with 3DsMax 2016
The textures I have drawn with Paint Tool SAI (Diffuse, bump, reflections, incandescence, clouds and cloud shadows) all made in SAI
The effect of over-exposure (bloom) I did with Photoshop
The rendering of each frame at 2000x1250 took me only 19 seconds because it was rendering via GPU (with a SLI nVidia GTX-770)

These days I have been working a bit on several scenes including this one, I have not yet done an final render since there are elements that I have already done, but I have not yet included them (as are some satellites), I have worked a little more on The clouds (mainly in the visible area), I have also reduced the strength of the reflection in the sea a little, I have subtracted the color to the terrestrial area, and I am still experiencing the atmospheric halo.
For now I have not put much emphasis on the smaller details because this view will be to be displayed on a screen where you will not appreciate much small details, but I know that in the future I will have to give more effort to this .
thank you very much for critique

This is actually a pretty interesting render.
1) The area where there is darkness should have some more of the Earth if we can see lights during the night time hours. Make the outline of the planet a bit more visible at night as well, maybe light bouncing off of the atmosphere? may vary with amount of cities intended, eh?)
2) The atmosphere should be doing a stronger reflection of the light as it wraps around the planet a bit more.
3) Indicating the light source is also good.If it's away from the camera view, then maybe the camera should indicate slight light streak across its own view?

In the dark area there is almost the same amount of land as in the clear zone, only in the dark it is noticed more due to the lights than in the illuminated area, also in the clear area the load of details in sight is much Greater and because of the clarity the lights can not be appreciated, as also the clouds cover details in the clarity (that was always my objective) that in the darkness only they were able to appreciate the lights.
The lights make the outline of the areas on land, is that this resolution can hardly be seen, but if you saw the render at higher resolution you would surely appreciate it.
In aspect 2 you are absolutely right, in fact I was trying, but quickly I could not do it, the rendering plugin I used for this one does not have how to create that effect, so the one that has what I had to do with photoshop, And since it is not a static illustration, achieving the effect is not easy, as this should vary according to the reflective areas that are close to the edges (as is the wide ocean), however I will try to spend more time on this aspect at See if I can do better.
The sunlight is very far from the view of the camera, that is why I did not make effects of the sun rays, however for this I must do them because in the view that I want to put on the screen I want the sun to be seen by some Moments.
Many thanks for the critique

Hmm, for the night lights, I guess it will be okay. However, one more thing that seems a bit bothersome is that the reflective nature of the landmass is that strong. All images of Earth or landmass-like regions tended to be dull to the point they never reflected anything at all. They are merely illuminated. Water should still reflect the way you got it it, which is good. Just the lands need to be dulled down on the reflection.
Hmm, have you tried using a separate, alphaed sphere for the atmosphere and dull the texture so that its AO stretches?
Also, unless the Earth and that other planet are very close to one another, shouldn't they have differences in terms of angle of the reflection of the light?
Also, consider maybe more stars or astral bodies in the background. Makes the picture look that much more interesting.

But .... the ground area has the reflection totally deactivated, in fact the area of reflection is defined by a black and white image (reflected white, black does not reflect) and it has no gradients, so it should not be reflecting Absolutely nothing, I think what happens is that the color of the area on land is very strong and that is why I think it absorbs a lot of light, maybe it has to saturate the green a little bit.
It is not convenient for me to use the method of the separate sphere because the effect must be enlarged or reduced according to the reflection caused by the light it is giving on its surface, ie the light of the atmosphere must be as dynamic as the illumination and reflection Caused by the parallel surface.
A while ago I was thinking of a way to do it, but I will not be able to test it until I am at home, it is possible that I have to make a second larger sun that will not be visible in the render, I would do the render separately And this would be the one that would use to create filters through the glow of the atmosphere.
No, not that are close, it is the angle of vision which makes it appear that are nearby.
Stars has to spare, which I think the size in general are very small and difficult to distinguish, I will have to make some larger stars.
And yes, I was thinking of making a stellar aura effect, since it is not a planet earth, but a fictitious one, I think that would adorn the final image much more.

(this critique comes from someone who never used any 3D modeling engine. You're free to take it with a grain of salt)
VISION : outstanding ! visually the piece have a great impact. Colors look harmonious and not too off (since the goal was, I presume, to render a realistic looking planet)
ORIGINALITY : well, it's just an exercise right ? I had to put a mark on here but I don't think it's relevant to your artwork.
TECHNIQUE : Overall the way you broke down your work is interesting and clear for connoisseurs and beginners alike, and that's a big plus. However from my point of view, the ocean water is too shiny, and I think it's missing an atmosphere of some kind. A colored light halo with some clouds would have done the trick !
IMPACT : I don't really know what to say here, except that I don't think this criteria really applies to your artwork, once again.

Yes, I tried to see something real.
In part yes, it is a test, not the final result, in fact the view that will be seen in the end will not be this.
Oh, the bright in the water is due to the reflection of the sun, for example, look at this photo (which is not mine), you will see that where the sun is reflected it becomes extremely bright.
esp.rt.com/actualidad/public_i…
But I think you're right, maybe the reflex area is very large, possibly reduce it.
As for the atmosphere, yes, it is something I still have to work on, the render plugin does not allow me to create so this step I have to do with other programs.
Do not worry, as long as it has something constructive is very likely to accept, even more when it is an unfinished work.
Many thanks for the critique
