The great looks of these aspects is given by textures such as rocks and vegetation, I think the most difficult part of this is to get the texture files that actually match what you want.
In my case many of these textures references are taken from other programs and high games section graph.
Disassemble these for the extraction of materials and textures is a fairly strong, sometimes is impossible for me,

fortunately spent years doing extractions content in this way and I have almost always successful in this process.
To the rocks I used a fairly straightforward method, for this one I used 4 to 5 layers.
1 - traces
2 - colored base (it turned out he could have been any color because this was not going to see and function was another clipping base layer for other layers).
3 - layer texture, this is the best visuals that gives this kind of item.
4 - Shades, this defines the shape of the object, otherwise this will be flat.
5 - According to the lighting environment can use a fifth layer (specular), a shine on the object.
Is possible that the texture layer have to treat it with the deformer to make them look less flat.

I leave a sample of how I made the rock in a format compatible with photoshop and Easy Paint Tool SAI.

The vegetation is more complicated if before this to display other elements, it is usually recommended not to delete any of the layers that can be difficult to reconstruct details, masks should be used instead.

An important note about the masks, in my case this is easier to work it in Photoshop in Easy Saint Tool SAI as this runs contrary.

To explain this I will need more time.
I have thought of a not too distant future to make some tutorials of the techniques that I use, for this I include Photoshop files as shown.

I'm glad to know that someone really interested to know how I work and show real interest in learning.
Will always be a pleasure to help you.
