Yowane Haku, some kind of fan-character from Vocaloid, as requested. I didn't know her until it was requested, so I did some research:Haku-chan is some kind of tribute character to those vocaloid users who fail at creating a natural sounding voice... usually in the Miku-edition. Haku is always depressed and drunken since she wants to sing like Miku but just fails and her songs usually are quite off-key.
...So much for the introduction. But since there are some really nice songs that are worth listening from Haku-chan on youtube I thought that it would be boring to draw her like everyone else, in that way she usually is and that she probably tries her best to sing like Miku. So why not drawing her more serious? I'm sure she's doing her best - if she's not drunken or depressed, that follows later after she failed - to overcome Miku. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, Haku-chan!
As for the picture itself... well, I don't know. I've put a lot of effort into it, yet I don't know if I should like or hate it. It didn't come out the way I wanted it. And it's because of the coloration probably. I tried something different this time and failed epicly. Tried to fix it by using some nice textures, they sometimes hide a lot of mistakes... but not this time.
Guess I dislike it more than I love it... it probably won't get many favorites... I so need to practise! ;w;

She does have several songs made just for her, most notably Daughter of White (part of the Daughter of Evil series) and Cyber Diver (which has Haku's "real" voice bank).

which is her personality mostly, or at least what she is known for
but she also has a wide range of songs that are both happy as well as serious!

Yeah, almost every picture is like this. But I don't think that Haku is drunken or sad every second of her life! That's pretty one-dimensional in my opinion and I honestly can't stand characters being labelled like this. After all, her profiles say that she tries to overcome Miku. So my "out of the box"-sense activated and I imagined her standing up, trying her best to reach her goal. Moreover, I love some of her songs, especially "Uninstall", it's my favorite one. <3
And yes, she's my favorite now, too.

always trying and trying to get better than miku and be the best she can be! shes happy and sad and has a wide range of emotions just like the others, its just hard for everyone to see that in her I guess XD shes such a dark looking vocaloid but shes AWESOME
one I really like by her is Hope
its a really good one if you find the right version, its a little more rock-and-roll esque than most of the vocaloid songs

Yes, it's so sad... even if Haku usually is just a pitched version of Miku, her version was better. I actually think that Miku's voice gets annoying after a while because it's so high. But you can keep on listening to Haku continuesly. <3

Well, I can't deny that especially that fact is something I love her for - she's a failure, or at least is supposed to be one... but this simply makes me want to hug her and keep on cheering for her. <3

Actually, I believe this shows how much you improved in a short amount of time, as I said in another comment not too much time ago
You've got a better grasp on human anatomy now; the only small detail I believe to be wrong it's how her right shoulder is connected to her chest: the arm should be over the chest, not the contrary. Or that's how I see it, from the given point of view.

The lightning source seems to be a little crazy, though. Looking at most of her body, the light seems to come from above her right shoulder, but then the ponytail behind her is coloured as the light is directly set in front of them.
The main problem is the light placed above her left shoulder, which contrasts the whole position of the shading.
That's pretty much what puzzles me here, don't worry. As I said, you're doing a great work and you're improving more than you would ever imagine. And I can say you DID put effort into it; Haku-chan is really determined and sure of herself, and all thanks to you
By the way, textures always gives something more to the whole picture. And "they're there to cover some mistakes"? You're too hard on yourself, but that's perfectly normal.
It will be an honour to see your talent growing up! Keep it up!
