Description
Read some of Aliens: Resistance written by Brian Wood and illustrated by Robert Carey and noticed that the synthetics and protagonists use a white version of the M41a pulse rifle shroud from Aliens, but it is attached in reverse on a Spectre M4. So I made a pixelated version (shown at the bottom) to see how it would really fit, and it turns out to be interestingly balanced. The design in the comic was a nod to the original Aliens movie because the M41a was made with an Italian SPAS shotgun under a Thompson, and the comic version uses another Italian firearm, in the same setting, with the same furniture. So Robert Carey updated the equipment in an accurate manner. For some reason the comic used SPAS folding stocks on the Spectre frame. This looked odd since the Spectre M4 has its own compact folding stock.
After making that, it occured to me that the MAC-10 (with its iconic suppressor/hand guard) could also be incorporated into the design. James Cameron also tested MAC-10 Ingrams in preproduction for Aliens. So I made two extra versions (top and middle) with varying hand grips.
