Description
Commission for *c20gleason of his Colin Shepard with Tali and Garrus.This scene is from his Mass Effect fanfic he's writing. The group is outside of the SR2 Normandy's Life Support bulkhead door, and Ashley's in there. She's locked it and Tali isn't really approving of her behavior.
Oh and Tali is in her alternate outfit here.

Must be hard for Garrus as a turian to fold his harms

you're mostly right there as the height of well i guess you could call it their collar on their Armour makes it a lot harder for a turian to look down to a certain degree. and also when Garrus (or most other turians) actually cross their arms in game it results in some weird clipping of the arms into the Armour or clothing.Β

Well, I didn't assume it would be hard because they would not see their arms from the collar, but because of their edgy sternum. So yeah, maybe the animators didn't think about it deep enough when folding turian arms :}
For that very reason I tend to believe that they like resting their arms in that Batman Bane kind of pose: 38.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mej⦠(except they'd grab their protruding collar carapaces)

I'm curious, did you draw those intricate patterns on Tali's suit by hand or did you use a texture or something? I'm really bad with Photoshop so I really have no idea how that works, ha ha. In any case, it looks beautiful!

I did them using the Pen tool, constantly curving the lines until I got that 'Tali' swirl look. I normally sketch them first on paper, then go over it in Sai. But I'm starting to get the hang of it by doing it on the fly. I used to apply a pattern fill in my old Tali drawings using GIMP, but I don't use it to color anymore; just for making slight edits here and there.
But it's funny, as much as I love drawing Tali I hate drawing her swirls. It's quite a pain.

I have to admit, I think this is one of my better works as far as giving Tali the 'quarian curves', but for some reason I like the work I did on Garrus mostly, heh.
