Description
Another class assignment, We had to take the low-resolution versions of some of the Fallout 3 robots/weapons and make them into high resolution models with extra detail to flesh them out. This is my interpretation of that project. It's not really textured either, just some colors and a bit of reflection to make it look nicer. I am not sure if I will get around to making it scrungy like it is in the game.

Thanks! It is always great to get such nice comments on my super early class project models. Now if only the model's mesh looked as nice as the model itself. I wasn't very good at keeping poly count down when I made this guy.... If I ever get my 3D programs up and running again I may have to revisit this guy out of nostalgia.

That's an awesome model dude. Nice work. It looks like it just came off the assembly line.

You know, my Drawing 1 professor has an OLD wind up robot toy that looks EXACTLY like a Protectron.

Yeah. I thought so too. I'll have to see if I can get a picture of it.

Have you made a Protectron?

Thank you so much!
No, I have only done this fellow from Fallout 3. I do not have a whole lot of free time to dedicate to doing other models/projects that aren't related to my coursework right now.
As for the mesh/model...cripes.. this thing is deceptive. It may look okay. but gah.. it's super heavy and it chugs like hell even on my work computer. I had not learned how to control the poly count as much as I would have liked when I made this. The subpatched arms didn't help either...
Thanks for the awesome comment though!

You're welcome!
And Aww.. -_-
And ahh I see.
Btw how did you get those textures!?
And I can't really model things well. Like I can't model exact copies of things.
And youz welcome>>!

The textures... they're not much of anything really. I never really properly textured it, as all I did was make it reflective.
As for modeling exact copies.. just practice! When I modeled this thing, I had been modeling for just shy of three months prior to which I had no experience with 3d modeling.
What program do you use?

Wow, now this is nice. I am myself battling with 3D art and, right now, I am really stunned when I see someone actually doing something good.
You wrote, that is was a class assigment. To make a model based on Fallout 2.
What kind of assigment is that? To do something Fallout? That's awesome! Where did you find something like that?
And BTW: this one looks exactly as the robobrain from Fallout 3, the ones from Fallout 2 were a bit less detailed. Either you cheated a bit, or you should just change a bit the description.

Thank you for the comment!
This was indeed a class assignment, and only my third or fourth hard surface model.
I am going to a one year intensive school called the DAVE School in Orlando, Florida. This was actually one of two final projects for the block. Our first block is learning the basics of modeling, lighting, textures, and compositions.
Our teacher provided us with all the reference we needed, which were mostly screen shots from the video game. We did Fallout 3 (instead of a Transformers project Argh! ) because my teacher had just bought the game and was nerding-out over it. ..Our projects tend to be based on what he is nerding out about that week.
...And .. whoops. I mis-typed in my original description up there, by putting Fallout 2 rather than 3. I will fix that.
But as I said above, part of the project was to take the Robo brain and give it more detail than our reference actually shows.

if your teacher bought a fallout 3 game, he is probably the most awesome teacher the art industry will ever know

He very well might be.
Most of our projects during that quarter had to do with his current video game fascinations....

Very nice modeling my friend. I am working on some add ons for GECK editor for fallout 3. Maybe you can contribute too,.

Thank you for the comment!
It would be interesting to contribute, but I can not say I am terribly familiar with the Fallout games or know anything about GECK editor. Perhaps I'll have to look into it a bit.

Haha, there's at least two of those in Fallout 2, one you can see in NCR (named Toto, accompanies Dorothy... ring a bell? ) and the other at the Sierra Army Depot (this one's called Skynet
).
I love Fallout 2 for all of it's witty and wild references. Great game, and this looks like a pretty darn good rendition of the character. Great work!

I really honestly know nothing about this game... but from what I have seen it does look fun.. Maybe I will pick it up one of these days.

It's always been on my top 10 list of games, and still is.
Even if it weren't fallout, this model looks really good! The detail you've put into it is great. I love the treads and being able to see the brain the most.
Good work!
