Description Happy New Year's everybody! Here's the last submission for 2010!

This is an original design of Mjollnir, also referred to as Thor's Hammer. All of the woven bits were carved by hand because I don't own any rotary attachments small enough. The pendant was shaped with a dremel tool however, and I used the side of a cutting blade to help shape the indents in the edges. Oh and I used the tool to polish it also.

The Hammer itself is an inch at its widest and 1 1/4 inches tall.
It's strung on a 1mm black leather cord.

Total time is about 10.5 hours

The antler this was carved from also has an interesting story- the antler chunk came from *Minotaur-Queen and was part of the main antler with the base of a broken tine. Right where the tine joined the main antler was a rusted shard of metal, along with lots of cracking. I'm still trying to determine if this is a bullet fragment, any help is greatly appreciated!!

There are many historical and modern variations of Mjollnir.

I can't critique so I'll comment.

This is beautiful. I own a thor's hammer in Silver, and while I do love that one I always feel that more "natural" materials (ie wood, bone) make them feel more authentic and special. The slightly asymmetrical structure coupled with the small crack on one side make it look imperfect; just adding to the feel.

Hand-made jewelery is gorgeous.

Excellent work, espescially considering your tools! Doubt the metal shard is a bullet, by the way. Bullets, whether they are shot or shotgun slugs, are made of lead and do not rust. If the antlers were mounted at some point, it could've been a small section of a nail or screw.

Again, well done!

Many many thanks!

Thanks for pointing out the lead in the bullets, I ended up posting a thread over on taxidermy.net and one gentleman said broadhead arrow tip. [link]
