Do you buy hammock for your pets in pet stores and wish "gosh I wish there was a cheaper way to get these..." Good news, there is! Its cheap, easy and quick (well at least if you have a sewing machine...yes you can do it without one but its definitely quicker.)
These hammocks can be used for ferrets or small rodents. I didn't specify any measurements, as it depends on the size of the animal and size of the cage.
Keep in mind rodents WILL make their own holes in your creation. The way I do this is that if one layer is very broken (one reason I always use a double-layered floor) I simply cut it of and sew another layer on top.

Fleece was picked because unlike most types of fabric it doesn't tear if there's a hole in it. Also its usually quite cheap. You can get fleece-carpets in many different stores.

Its easy to clean, just remove the chain and throw it in the washing machine.

One thing I've noticed about any pet shops that sells hammocks like this is that they're usually attached to the cage with a simple thread. This has always annoyed me, as most rodents can get through this in no time...what do you think will happen if they break the rope while sitting in the hammock? Because of this I use chains. You can get those in a hardware store, usually in whatever length you want.

I don't know... Rabbits aren't really climbers like rats so I'm not sure if they would be interested. And even so it would probably need to be a lot stronger.

This is beyond useful. Hammocks DO cost an arm and a leg and considering that rats like to decorate them with their own holes, smudges and smells this is a great idea.

The price they put on some pet accessories is just outrageous sometimes...(even the cages, I tend to refer to most rabbit cages being sold in pet stores around here as overpriced firewood due to them being way too small and being of horrible quality.)

This is cool. I used to have rattie, and plan to have them again... expect I currently live in a high cat population house.
