Description
The lovely New Forest pony, Apricot.Commissioned by The Godolphin School as a retirement gift for their current headmistress (who was also my headmistress for 7 years!). I so hope it was a success, she was a good headmistress
16 x 20 inch Oils on board. The colours aren't dead on, I must figure how to photograph my paintings better..

Beautiful portrait! I love the loose yet detailed style, very nice. ^.^ The neck looks a little flat compared to the face though maybe it works better as the focus of the painting IS the face. Lovely work!

-nods- I sort of agree, can't figure whether it's a drawback or helps it work! Thanks for the comment Apologies for slowest reply in the world, I've been through a particularly bad spate of not checking my messages!

looks pretty good O.o means, I should try oils as well someday. Just stick to Acrylics at the moment, but your colouring looks very smooth. Lovely =3

Oils are lovely, I hugely prefer them to acrylics (which for me, dry insanely too fast!). Thanks so much for the comment, hope you have a go with oils soon!

Very cool painting! That background looks like it was a lot fun! I love your use of color and the pony's whiskers are cute!
(btw, it The Godolphin School name after the Godolphin Arabian was from? His story and legacy is so amazing!)

Thank you so much
Alas no, I wish it was but its actually named after Elizabeth Godolphin, the lady who founded the school in 1726, who I don't think had any connection..

This is absolutely gorgeous! The expression is wonderful and like someone else said, though there are paintings of horses out there, you seem to really be able to get a hold of the horse's character through your work.
What a great present to get, she's going to love it. Good show

Utlah, this is an amazing painting. Well done you ! I have seen alot of paintings of horses and the artists don't seem to be able to capture the horse's character as you have done. Love it !
