Description
Finally, I have the uploadable photos of my commissions of Hope, this is the first, painted for Benvy O'boyle, of her first pony, which she shares with her sister, Benvy. The medium is oils on board. The work in progress photographs will be uploaded to scraps soon

I thaught is was a photograph at first! It looks so real! We have some horses (arabians) and that kinda looks liek an Arabian.
They way you captured the whiskers on the horse is great!

I think she has some arab in her, she was bred to be a racehorse but never made the height, as she is rather small, but rather beautiful, pony

Awwww! Sounds super cute! Too bad she couldn't make the height, though. The thing about Arabs is, no matter how short they are considered horses, not ponies, because they're a sub-species of horse or something... learned that from listening to Moma nd Dad talk about how short Ellie, our first horse, is. She's pregnant now, and i can't wait till the baby comes! ^^

i dont know, to me it seems its missing a lot...
i would of liked to see the rest of the body, maybe the background!
I do admit you have quite a bit of skill, but i dont believe this is daily deviation worthy.

I paint as commissioned, so the lack of body and background is dependent on the commissioner, this is what they wanted, and I don't think its fallen short of being what it was created to be, which was not a full body portrait with a detailed background.
As for it being DD worthy, I've no opinion as its up to the public, but for the most part they seem to disagree with you

This is undoubtedly an amazing painting done in oil, I still feel that it's missing a bit... there's just something about the eyes, they look so empty, and sad, there's just nothing there. Just a comment, that's all. But as you said it's a work in progress.

Oh my God! That is amazing. I love horses. I ride to, it reminds me of a horse named Starr that I ride. But I don't own any horses...I wish I did. Keep up the good work!

wow, this is just breath taking. The shading on the head is in all the right places. The eye is what gets me the most, the tiny hint of brown in it gives the horse so much life. I love the different colors you used for the forelock. The lashes on the eyes and the nose couldn't bring out anymore of a perfect look, even the hair in it's ears. Everything is in the right places. I love even more how you can tell the sun is shining off everything so beautifuly, to the horse itself and even in the bridle and the bit. What makes this piece even better is the fact that you used a brown background and the rest of the body of the horse is blured as it goes into the painting.
