N.F.M.R. Case File #'s 14 & 15

Ringo and Starr

-The lemurs, eh? Boy, some interesting memories there.

Well, the two of them were an interesting case. For one, they were the first kaiju sighting in 2 months after the fight between Ragido and Megidda over the Red Sea. A second reason would be the fact that they were first official sighting that the 4 of us witnessed as our new, U.N. founded group, some national monster research thing or something... anyway, the third reason these two are so special to me in my mind is that these two didn't get away with their kaiju joyride for long. In fact, they were met with the wrath of that big Salamander Gobendra and, drum roll please, a new, improved Ragido! I kid you not, it's like after Denila was destroyed Ragido took her better traits and melded them with his own. And, to top it off, he could breathe fire!

Yes, I proposed the names. The idea came to me in a flash of inspiration when one of them leaped across Time Square just as an ad flashed across the screen for a 'best of the Beatles' album... the others gave me a 'you're not serious...' kind of look, but no one could top it, so the names stuck. I know they're not that accurate, what with them being black lemurs and not the iconic Ringtail's, but come on, give me a little creative credit here! Okay, getting a bit off topic....

Nonetheless, these two have been seen a few times since, as thick as thieves, and like many other monsters at the time, fighting alongside Ragido. At that point in time, the answer to how that kept happening was slowly starting to reveal itself, but it took two more sightings, one in Mexico and the other in London, to really answer that question.

Frank Seltzer

I'm not sure what to think of this case, to be honest. It happened so quickly. We, Noelle, Mel, Frank and I were actually at UN headquarters, in the closing stages of the voting to found the N.F.M.R., when all of a sudden these emergency sirens went off. A nearby tv showed the case. Apparently, these lemurs, who had just been brought to Central Park zoo from Madagascar a few days before, just started to grow to gigantic proportions without any warning. Within 15 minutes, they were big enough to use the big apple as their own personal playground.

Even more surprising is that like every case before it, within a few hours Ragido was on the scene, mysteriously arriving to 'save the day,' this time with that big Salamander from Osaka on his toes. A two on two battle across Manhattan then took place, Gobendra taking on the darker male, and Ragido taking the brown and white female. I'm just glad we weren't too close, there were stories of people falling unconscious from the lemurs stench...

Reed Alexander

I don't know much about animals, really, it wasn't what I was drafted in here for. But, since witnesses need to provide accounts for the incidents, so I guess I'll just throw in my two cents. At first, I just thought the two were just big monkeys, which led me to disliking them a little. On past digs monkeys were always causing trouble for whatever dig team I was on, taking tools, food, sleeping in our tents and leaving behind... 'evidence' of their presence.... and their incessant chattering always woke us up too early!

Well, anyway, Frank was there to correct me on their source species, and provide their rather. . . stupid names. Seriously, Ringo and Starr? That's like giving yourself rabbit ears in a group photo, it's so juvenille. I already miss digging...

Noelle Mashima

After the two disappeared, we -oh right, getting ahead of myself.

Ragido and Gobendra took care of the two, but, just like past cases, the two disappeared in a flash of light, leaving more questions then answers. Gobendra disappeared right afterwards in a similiar fashion, even though he was fighting on Ragido's side. Then Ragido simply turned around and headed out of the city, avoiding human contact as much as possible and triggering no destruction worth sending the military in for. It was puzzling, but we all did witness a monster attack from beginning to end.

Also, we found out that there were a lot of comet fragments around Madagascar's shores, even near where the men picked the lemurs up. It brings back thoughts of me being on Ronis' island and his change, which, I think for all of us, helped this whole incident answer some questions. Now, we are all going to go to our 'headquarters,' which I hear is rather nice. I was kind of expecting some harbor warehouse, but I hear it's in Colorado. And, I heard rumors that there's already an assignment south of the border for us....

(note: These two, in effect, are a homage to the later Kong's, in movement and realisticity they are like the Peter Jackson version, but at the same time, color wise they are like the 70's remake of Kong. Lot's of fun there.

Also, the two are a bit of an archetype buster. Only one reason why, unlike most primates (yes lemurs are classified as primates) lemurs break the mold by being matriarchal, so in this case the female is the tougher one, going against every giant primate tradition I've ever witnessed. When that fact came to me, of course, I had to share them with the world.)

They are very nicely done, and a good twist on the archetype like Ren said.

I'm glad you like them, and yes, we could all use a good second look at archetypes every once in a while.

A neat take on the archetype. The inclusion of a mutated musk gland really adds to the whole thing. Watching these two fight would be extremely entertaining.

lol, Indeed, assuming you had a gas mask on, or else you'd have to watch from a pretty significant distance.

And also, the gender twist came to me after the two were inserted, so in a way, I pulled a Batman by finding all the symbolism after their creation. The musk gland was an even later addition.

"ad flashed across the screen for a 'best of the Beatles' album... the others gave me a 'you're not serious...' kind of look, but no one could top it, so the names stuck."
First off, very classy! lol

Secondly, this is a very neat kaiju idea, though they might not be very threatening in non-city or giant tree laced battle grounds.

There just so little a climbing animal can do with nothing to climb!

Anywho, the nod to Kong is a good one, even someone who known so little about the big ape can see the connection.

lol, everyone I know outside of DA that's seen the names didn't stop laughing for at least a minute and a half

Yeah, these two aren't built for versatile combat, but they are nearly unstoppable in big city combat, and especially when A.D.O.E.T.T.E., my giant animate tree, enters the fray. These two come to like it's company quite a bit.

Glad they get the homage across.
